  1. Did you cover the panels in the hatch area? If so please post those pics as well!

One day...if my dash cracks......I will copy Jackhammers lead. Its the standard to compare against! Beautiful job!

Over the past 5 weeks I have beenworking on my interior. Fully fabric dash, shift boot, custom switch plate in change tray and speaker boxes in place of storage boxes all wrapped in alcantara. came out pretty good if you ask me. I am gonna post up in the interior forum when I get it all finished
  2. Retirement......As much I would like to be there Im in no race with age. But when I do get there my plan is to run Vintage/Historical to keep busy.

As far as building my own...yup, in the plans for me as well. A Lotus replica. Perhaps use a more modern engine with a Mk9 transaxle but keep it as era like as possible...chassis, wheels...power level..etc

I keep searching for a resource for FJ chassis plans. I have the FJ regulations and can base the design off that but knowing me well.....Im sure I would interpret and build something altogther different! LOL I even considered taking the LOCOST design and adjusting it accordingly to make some sort of FJ open wheel weekend lapping car.

Anyone know were plans.....any plans....may be available? I REALLY want to do this!

Absolutely! I'd love to own one of these style cars. Better yet, I have dreams of building a modern version with a motorcycle engine and sequential gear box. I'm a long way off from retirement, but that just means I have more time to dream about it!
  3. I keep dreaming about owning one of these......http://www.race-cars.com/carsales/lotus/1247181991/1247181991ss.htm

Need to buy another lottery ticket!

  4. Is it truely sound logic by which we build our cars......

    Spend too much money

    To go way too fast

    Faster than legaly allowed

To cars that will not allow us to recoup our investment

But who cares...as indivivuals we have fun doing it!

    Thats all I care about..........:D

German Rednecks. I can't see the logic of projects like this. :nono:
  5. The Innovate LC-1 has dual output for narrow and wide band. What kind of sensor did you buy?....I dont know of a stock sensor that can do this.,,,but I suppose you could accomplish with some form of elctronic trickery. Im not so good at this stuff either.

I run a FC as well and it will allow you to switch between closed and open loop. I guess that is one way to bypass the O2 sensor. In Open loop mode the ECU will not take readings from the O2 sensor into consideration so your fuel economy will suffer.

  6. To make it clear I am electricaly challenged and as such require some help.....please........

I need to increase injector size on my SX and am considering switching from the stock KA24e injectors to GTR injectors. Both are top feed but with different impedence ranges. GTRs are 444cc and the KAs are 260cc. I understand that if I drop the GTR injectors in "as is" the ECU will fry....right?

I have meassured the impedence of both and found the following..

    Stock KA24e 14.2 Ohms

    Upgrade GTR 2.4 Ohms

I believe a Honda resistor box will work but am unsure.....can someone please confirm.

What I dont understand is how important is it that I match the impedence to the injectors. Does it need to be exact or just close?

Are there any better options I should consider...... other than buy high impedence injectors.

    Thanx!

  7. Correct.......... I ran a K&N and was contantly wiping down oil from the inside of my hood. From first hand experience that stock baffle is not enough! If you run them hard oil will get by and make a mess.

And a little bit of blng is cool!

I may be interested, looks great, well thought out. Looks like it belongs there!

Rules imposed by certain sanctioning bodies require a catch can. That'd be the only reason. Other than the "bling" factor....
  8. My thinking was similar with different justififcation. I settled on the RB20 because the 432Z had a 2 liter and was a high revving kick ass car.

L28's are VERY easy to come by where I'm from. I plan on putting in a RB20 just to keep it inline six, but more modern. I know that the 25/26 make more power, but in the end, I want my car to still be a 240z (which came with a 2.4L) so the RB20 with the 26 crank and some other goodies will keep it somewhat original displacement...that is how I see it. If I had a 260z...well, I would probably end up selling a kidney to buy the RB26
  9. I love my RB20.....it hasnt been that expensive to build and no matter what people say there are a lot of parts available. It no toss at all between the RB and L......the RB wins hands down. Saying that...spemd a few extra bucks and throw in a RB25.

WTF...you decide on a ford 302? How did you go from straight six dilema to a Ford 302 decision?

  10. Look at the bright side....I bet your lawm is lush and green!

    Mine sure as hell is!

I am convinced that the Northeast is now officially a rain forest. The slugs are getting HUGE. The frogs are everywhere, insects are taking over, indigenous trees are dropping leaves from too much rain. I bet I can start growing banana trees.

Don't bother looking at the forecast. It's mostly cloudy with showers and a slight chance of brief sun, to raise the humidity levels.

I have a tough time keeping the house from rotting.

You know it's bad when the house rots faster than the Z!

  11. Judging by the appearance of that rail I would plan to replace both of them. And dont be surprised if the floors need to be changed as well...cancer has a habit of spreading. Once you start poking around you will quickly determine the extent og the rust.

Are those large wrinkles in the floor? Has the car been in an accident?

i searched and found a thread where a guy is making new subframes and floorboards. is that what i'm going to have to do?

check out the damage below and tell me if there's a source for replacement floorboards/subframes. i have minor welding skills.

    .

  12. As a matter of fact I have exactly what you describe.

    Is that all they do.....?!?!?!

if it's for an RB20 you'll have a tough time making your own as you would need to find a junkyard car with the ECU and harness and purchase the ecu and cut the harness and take both home with you, then desolder the connector from the ECU.
