ORANGEV8Z
I'm about to do a "second" restoration on my z. This time doing things I wanted to do before. I will be doing some cutting and welding on the firewall and the doors (deleting handles). What gauge sheet metal should I get to cover up all these holes? Can't wait to get it all torn apart and do it right this time.
GOTHALOSISM
i'd prob go with 18 for that.
seattlejester
18 may be overkill, 20 is easily bendable by hand to get the correct contours. Plus it's factory thickness. On the other hand, 18 is thicker and will resist blow thru and warping. Granted it's not much help if you blow thru the sheet metal underneath. Stay away from anything higher than 20, and there really isn't any need for anything lower than 18.
rturbo 930
I believe 20 is what the stock sheetmetal is, so I'd use that.
ORANGEV8Z
thanks for the replies. I've got a lot of work ahead of me. I noticed some bubbling of rust on bottom in front of rear wheels to. I poked a screwdriver through it:( I guess I'm about to learn a lot of new skills.
