JSM
... I couldn't believe what I saw in this Cadillac! Talk about shocking. And I thought running the coolant line running through the center of the motor was bad.
z240
I'm assuming you're talking about the apparent clever starter location. Another brilliant breakthrough in packaging design. Also known as "screw the owner for servicing costs. Starter cost? $100 bucks. Labour? $1000...." Hey, Its not just laying in there is it? Is it April 1 already? Just seems so wrong... Check out that sensor too. $30 and $1000 in labor.
auxilary
If memory serves, the toyota 4 liter v8 from sc400/ls400 is the exact same way

zero
Now BMW is putting their turbos there, and reversing the flow of the engine. Nice packaging!
Owen C.
The vk56 is like that also. I dread the day my starter goes out in my titan.
clutchdust
Yes, it is a PITA but really not that big a deal. All you have to do is pull the intake plenum to pull it. Not exactly the same thing but I can pull the plenum on an LS1 in about 15 minutes.
kiwi303
I've seen pics of a Northstar running with the exhaust in the valley. Pretty custom work.
Tony D
You guys are complaining that you don't have to lay in the dirt to change a starter any longer?!?!????? Ungrateful BASTARDS! 383 Chrysler, long tube headers, spring, dirt parking lot and 32.5F so NOTHING is solid! I would have KILLED to do a manifold yank and change the starter! Oh, and remember to disconnect the battery before you drop that starter onto the headers...
S30Mark
The vk56 is like that also. I dread the day my starter goes out in my titan. Ah, you beat me to it. They are easy. Usually they make the manifold easy to get off when there is a commonly failed part underneath it. American cars on the other hand.... Who knows. LOL.
