New zx owner with a LS1 quistion

Recommended Posts

i just tried that exact pan. it didnt work.it makes the motor sit too high, and the bottom of the pan sits lower than the bottom of the car. the front of the pan needs to be thinner and there is plenty room for a longer sump. unfortunatly the one that worked great was a canton 13-270a($450 bucks). expensive but it worked awsome. glad to see im not the only one atempting this swap. mine will be done by may. ill post pics when i figure out how too.

Bringing this thread back to life. I got my ls1 6 speed bolted in know working on wiring and exhaust.Had to cut down a 98-02 F-body oil pan, install a 3rd knuckle in the steering shaft to go around the manifold, using a F-body manifold on drivers side flange cut off,and c5 vette on passangers with flange cut off.

Hear are more pics of the zx swap.

On the oil pan if you measure from the bellhousing flange toward the front you will make your cut at 10", cut up toward the pan rail till you are even with the most shallow part of the pan, cut forward at least 5" I will try to get pics of my cut out sorry guys I didn't get a pic of the pan.

On the motor mounts I used 1/2" flat plate welded to the cross member where the original mounts we're, used 1 1/2" back plates on engine from T&D with chevy clamp shells and 77 chevy truck rubber mounts. This set the motor very close to the rack and pinion so I will say test fit stuff and get every thing where you want it first. I hope this helps some one who is looking at doing this swap.

If I need to add delete or reword anything let me know.
