Ben's Z
How thick will my cam tower shims be? Any other suggestions? How will this effect using my stock ECU because of the compression change?
rayaapp2
Adjustable Cam Gear and your problem is solved. Compression should not be an issue with any stock USA spec L series ECU. The only issue you may have is emissions, but Im not savvy with emissions regs in Tx. or if they have any.
BluDestiny
I don't think that's enough to warrant fear. For a simple "hi-comp" mod people normally shave .08 off to get 10:1. So you'd be less than that. http://datsunzgarage.com/p90/ As for the shims, what does the machine shop say you should do? Normally they should know. texis30O
I tried getting you a head locally but could not find one through my resources. If you can call Doug and see what he has. I know that he is selling off a lot of his inventory. I have his numbers if you need them. ( work, cell, and his wife's number)
z-ya
How thick will my cam tower shims be? Any other suggestions? How will this effect using my stock ECU because of the compression change? You can tower shims should be equal to what you shave. Less than 0.020 shave, I wouldn't worry about it. Derek (on this forum), can make you some shims. I wouldn't worry about the slight change in CR.
Ben's Z
Should have mentioned this is for a L28ET swap. Please take that into consideration on compression ratio
NewZed
You could use this calculator - http://www.ozdat.com/ozdatonline/enginedesign/ - and reduce the head gasket thickness by .040" to simulate the shaved head.
Sam280Z
You can have the head straightened before it is cut. When looking for someone to work a warped P90 a couple of years ago, I had a local shop claim they could straighten it and take less than 5 thousands off. I ended up using a different head that was already straight - but his option was there... Sam
