tooquick260
Ha!!,,,,, I do have a set of 240sx rear calipers and the S30 front calipers if you want!
tooquick260
Ok final fitment of the brake booster. It is mounted. Depending on how good you are at centering the mounting holes you will have to open up the center large hole. Also, one of the studs on the brake booster sat right next to the inner firewall brace. I had to split that side and open it up with a air saw so the nut would screw on. Now I have to work on the plumbing. I am going to install a brake bias proportioning valve, waiting on delivery. With this I will run the new lines. Also installed the new clutch master cylinder. Cleaned some more parts and ordered some more parts. tooquick260
Well updates.... Got the S15 6 speed tranny. Put it on a crate with the S30 bell housing, sent it to Xnke (fellow member). He has cut both bell housings and mated them on a custom made jig. He has also figured out how to make the S30 speedo work on this tranny. I will post pics as soon as I get them uploaded. Jacob can add to this what ever he wants. Cant wait, this will be mated to a Z32 rear dif with 4.08 rear gears. Can you say short shift! I also ordered the rear suspension setup kit from techno toy tuning for the Z32 suspension. This will allow for me to use the Z32 rear axles, and braking with the dif. Now I have to get a drive axle made and custom make a tranny mount for the S15 6 speed. I am working daily on what I can. Waiting on machine shop to finish the valve job and flycut of the cylinder head. I think I will get the tranny, cylinder head and rear suspension at the same time. I am home this week, but will be working in the upper north east of the country next week and maybe the following states I will be in are Pa, Ny, Ct, De and maybe Va. Xnke
You might be able to use the stock transmission mount, I'll double check. The unmodified transmission would require the crossmember to be moved back 2", just like the FS5W71C transmissions, but I had to cut A LOT out of the bell to get the pilot engagement depth correct. I'll have an answer for you in a few days; but likely the stock mount can be made to work fine.
tooquick260
Great,, that would save some time on my end. My car has been down for 4 weeks and I am just now seeing somewhat of end now. Always good to start putting parts back on the car. So, BMC and CMC re-installed after painting the engine compartment. I have decided to go with the 5 lug Z32 pattern for all four corners. I am going to use the Z32 wheels now. Time to let the old Sentra wheels go.. For sale!
Xnke
The distance from the front edge of the bellhousing to the bolt holes on the transmission for the rubber mount is just a hair over 23". I don't have a stock 5-speed here to measure right now, but I can tell you the shifter assembly will come up in the stock location, and the transmission is VERY close to the stock length from tailshaft to engine block. If you can find the correct slip yoke with the proper spline count and diameter on one side and the OEM U-joint on the other, you shouldn't have to get a driveshaft made! Although I think if you have the stock driveshaft, 1973-74 and up have the silly non-replacable U-joints...So a stock-length driveshaft will have to do. Still hunting the speedo drive cog, I have the trans ready to accept it, just need to get it and the proper c-clips and ball bearing. tooquick260
Updates, More detailing and planning. Painted the valve cover...primed and 3 coats of black. Going to paint the lettering red and sand the paint off the outer ring for an outline look of polished aluminum. Then I will clear coat the hole thing. I was lucky my gdad had the valve cover media blasted for free... gotta love freebies. Painted the tranny mount and the alternator mount black nothing fancy. I cleaned the Z32 diff and decided to just clear coat it. Mail man delivered again..... new head studs and brake bias adjuster. Scored on a used wide band, about $60 less than new. Very good condition, O2 sensor looks like new. So other plans are to move the battery to rear hatch and put the fuel surge tank in the battery tray. Also, good news the cylinder head should be done tomorrow. I got the rest of the shim/spacers for the springs yesterday and delivered to the machine shop. Hopefully I can pick it up. I don't think I will have much time because of work, leaving for the week on Sunday. Maybe dad will jump in and help. Have to get the oil pan off to put the drain in for the turbo line. With much more to do.
Xnke
Here's some shots of your transmission completed; just waiting on the speedo drive and it'll get palletized and on a truck back to you. Here's a look at the input shaft...sticks out 16mm, just like the stock transmission:

tooquick260
Ok updates..... Got the cylinder head back Friday. Bolted it on and Test fitted the intake and exhaust manifolds by bolting them to the head with the stud kit from ZCar. They really help for on and off installation. Bolted the turbo on, hung the intercooler and tried fitting the piping. I don't have all the right pieces needed to fit everything. So measuring and ordering more piping. Will post pics later today when I have them uploaded.
tooquick260
Waiting on the additional piping (1 90 degree) and 3 couplers. Did get the oil pan off today. Will get the oil drain for the turbo put in this week. Also picked a place for the blow off valve (passenger side just inside the radiator bulk head). I am struggling with getting the 240sx throttle body linkage to work. I thought I saw a post on how to alter the throttle. Can't find in the search. The guy had a ton of washers. Anyone seen this? OhBilly
For the throttle linkage I ended up using a universal throttle cable kit from Jegs that works quite well: http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performance+Products/555/157006/10002/-1 For modifying the 240SX throttle linkage, if I remember correctly I just had to flip the actuator arm by 180 degrees so it would work in a pull-cable application. This points the actuator arm downwards instead of upwards but it still works fine. Below are a couple of pics that show the cable and linkage. The pics aren't very good but they should give you the idea of how it can work.
tooquick260
THanks billy. I was looking for using the stock ring with the pin cable. I saw someone do that with using this. So onto progress..... Last night I did a trial fit of the head intake and turbo so I could lay out the intercooler piping. Got all cut and ready but I am waiting on 1 coupler and 1 90 degree. Then removed everything and decided to reclean everything. Cleaned the block all the gasket surfaces. Now final assembly,,,,, Installed the cylinder head and set cam timing then the spring tensioner. Ran out of time and have to get some sleep, driving to Wilminton Delaware in the morning! I will be back by Monday early. I have left the list of things for dad to get done if he has time. weld drain bung in oil pan and paint finish brake lines weld blow off valve Finish the fuel lines, install fuel pump and purge tank install battery in the rear hatch remove the rear suspension and diff from the Z remove the rear suspension from the ZX much more than this..... tooquick260
I am back but back on the road tonight for an overnighter in Miami. Got back last night at 9:30 from DE, CT, MD and PA. That was in 5 days all driving. Got some parts in while I was gone...... Mustache Bar for the N/A Z32 Dif Z32 axles shortened with new boots and the diff front mount Motor Painted Front of the motor on,,,, yes forget to put the crank pully oil seal in. Did some fitting final fit on intake and exhaust manifolds.. Also got the S15/S30 tranny in from Jacob!!! Check out the S30 bellhousing mated to the S15 6 speed tranny..... Ok... the list is getting shorter. Will post more as it goes together. Still to come plumbing the fuel surge tank, electric fuel pump, electric fuel pump relay and the the turbo ecu wiring. tooquick260
Ok,, Today got the diff mounted in the car. Here are some pics. I also mounted the battery box in the rear, ran the negative to a chassis ground spot. Ran the positive up to the engine compartment. Got some help from the family (dad and brother) to mount the S15 6 speed up in the car. The shifter fits in the stock hole, looks like the stock mount will have to be moved back about an inch. Will work on mounting the tranny to the motor to get a measurement for the drive axle. The S15 6speed tranny takes a 90's model automatic front yoke. Then of course I am using the rear dif out of a 300zx 93, r200 3.90. Mounted the 2 electric fans to the radiator. Made a mount to hold the AFM. I used the A/C bolt hole. I made a bracket out of a 2" wide 1/8th thick aluminum plate, bent it to bolt onto the AFM. Much more to work on.
tooquick260
Doesnt seem like much but,,,, I GOT THE TRANNY INSTALLED< BOLTED and MOUNTED. Yahoo.... thanks Jacob!! Once I have the correct release bearing and collar on. Installed the new slave cylinder with a stainless steel braided line. Installed the injectors Final bolt on of the turbo with hose fittings for oil lines Bolted the down pipe on with the O2 sensor Ordered the drive axle ended up being 31 inches from the flange of the diff to the seal in the tranny. Thats what the driveline company needed. Ordered rear shocks,, tokico's and new dog bone with drop downs to clear the new Z32 diff Ran the vacuum hose from the intake to the brake booster on the master cylinder. More to come! tooquick260
Really I started another thread in the project section. Has more detail of the build since it seems to be a total rebuild.
tooquick260
Well since no one can reply or post on the projects page I will update this thread. I am going to post all the pics that I have and comment on the next line. So that is the Britz blow off valve, coilovers from TechnoToyTuning, oil pan with drain welded in and the new spacers. I got 2- 5 x 114.3 1 1/4" for the rear and 2- that convert the front hubs from 4 lug stock to 5 lug. They were suppose to be the same width but came in as 1 1/8". The front tires do not clear the coilovers. So back to the mfr and they are sending new ones. There mistake and are paying the shipping. Just going to put a hold on the completion.
