SleeperZ
And the answer is....... YES. You need money and some internal prep, but I hear you can do it with stock block crank and rods.

Dan Juday
Welcome Agent! If I'm interpreting things right, you're a kiwi? Buddy if you're a native the heck with that L28. The heck with a V8 too! Make it true N.Z. hybrid. PUT A SAIL ON IT! Nobody will be able to catch you.
fl327
yes. with internal work, o-ring (block and crank may work, but you might wanna touch that if youre gonna street 500hp) big turbo, bov, indenpendent managment, crazy more stuff. big bucks

scottyMIz
Timz is very close to the 500hp mark and he has a L28.If he is looking around he should post something to help.It does take alot of money to do it "right" but i suppose with the right parts and know-how you could do it for cheap. awd92gsx
Now, I could be wrong on this...but... Stock 90-92 DSM rods can handle over 500hp. Looking at the 83 ZXT rods, they actually look stronger than DSM big rods....couple that with the fact that there are two more rods handling the power...I don't personally see there being a need to upgrade the rods to hit 500hp... Am I wrong on this?
Mike C
I don't think so. They do need bolts IMO, although forced induction is WAY esier on rods than high RPM (compression vs. tension loads) The one turbo motor that DOES need rods is the Typhoon-Syclone motor. Stock they break pistons, and once you upgrade those, snap goes the rod!
