Quick questions on PVC, oil sensor, trans cooler line delete?

I know I have been lurking for quite some time I have a question on what some of you guys have done on your setups. I am keeping it stock no racing, dragging, or autocrossing that I know of in my future.

 

1. The PVC crossover was broken on mine, I was thinking of just buying a stock replacement. Did you guys just delete it off by using breathers or other alternate ways. I looked on LS1tech and read info and laughed at the bickering too. Just wanted to know your guys take.

 

2. I will be running a 4L60e. This transmission is rebuilt and not many miles on it. Could I just find the right fitting and plug the cooler lines, or would it be better to go ahead and run an aftermarket transmission cooler to it.

 

3. Stock Oil sensor was broken and was gonna buy the Autometer 2268 adapter to plug into the hole to use with an aftermarket sensor to go with it. Or would just getting the JCI adapter and go with that? I need to reread a few items that Rebekah had posted a while back with a few others, I just can't remember where currently where there was an issue with the Sanderson headers. Or maybe I am mixing things.

 

Thanks to those who I have asked random questions via pms, emails, or called and to all the others who have sold me their hand-me-downs to make this possible.

 

I am less than a week away from actually putting the motor in, just need to finish welding and order the driveshaft. After all that need to finish the dash, install the Speedhut gauges, and do the wiring. Socorob given me a boost since he has his driving and now I gotta get off my ass.

The only reason to use the JCI location is if using stock gauge. Since you are using speedhut, go ahead and put sender up top. I will be changing mine. But, I may use the JCI location for an oil temp sender, or something like that. I have some safety work to do this winter, then it's gaiges and engine oil system upgrades. I don't want to buy a new engine anytime soon!

My LS2 only has PCV on one valve cover. I used it and plumbed it into the intake upstream of the throttle body like stock. LS1 us usually plugged directly into the throttle body. Only issue I have is that motor uses a little oil and I get a blue puff from the exhaust pipe on downshifts when beating on it. SunnyZ went to a puke can from both valve covers-I think, to eliminate these two issues. Not on my list currently, but someday. Pretty easy mod and I have the bottle already.

I would run a cooler.  I am using a 4L60E as well and installed a trans cooler.  As a matter of fact, that is one recommendation that is consistent on LS1tech.com regarding the 4L60E.

Out of curiousity, where up top?  Mine is in the location down by the filter and I am using a Speedhut gauge.

A lil tip for running an oil pressure sending unit up top in the stock location (drivers side, just behind the intake manifold). IF you have the stock electric sender, literally break or cut the plastic part off the sender and clean out the metal nut/thread part. Tap it with 1/8th inch NPT or whatever your sender is and bam. No need for adaptors. Plus its away from the headers. I personally dont like the JCI adaptor. Also you can use a stock datsun sending unit for your stock guage.

Yep. I've done about a half dozen this way. Works well. Only thing that sucks is the autometer mechanical sender is huge, so you might have to run a 45* elbow on it.

Picked up a B&M 70264 cooler and will tie em in for the tranny cooler.KTM gave me a few pointers. Need to find the appropriate compression fittings.

 

Found the thread I was missing on LS1tech regarding the PCV, gonna reroute and redo the crossover just need the appropriate grommet. Picked up all the other hardware. I have the particular routing picture and info if anyone else needs it.

 

Oil pressure sensor adapter still waiting for.

 

Past 2 days the honey-do list was priority, today I get to play around the Z after some finishing paint in the kitchen.
