280Z companion flange bolts

They are 10mm x 1.25.  25 or 30 mm long. They have a shoulder that fits the hole very tightly. Generic 10mm bolts are loose fit.  It is the clamping force that counts, make sure you use grade 8 SAE or 10.9 DIN bolts and torque correctly.

Hey Ryan

. Yeah I saw those. That's a crazy price for 4 bolts. I am switching half shafts from my 280zx to Wolf Creeks. I sold all the old 280Z u-joint parts but scored the diff half stubs and the companion flanges but I don't have the bolts for the companion flanges, I need 8 bolts, nuts and lock washers. I just ordered some bolts that will work but they are not shoulder bolts. It would be nice to have the right stuff but I'm not paying $100 for 8 bolts!!!!

If the aluminum adapters aren't machined to fit the shoulder tightly it won't matter as much anyway.  If they are, the shoulders would be nice insurance if the nuts get loose.

Might be worth asking Wolf Creek what they think.  There could be other considerations on the bolt, like squareness of the head to the shaft and area of the clamping surface.  Many inexpensive bolts aren't square and aren't made well.

I may be able to round up a complete set that you can have.  How quickly do you need them?

I believe courtesy nissan has them but they are about 9$ a pop if I remember correctly.

For reference I always use the site above to get part numbers and then check the Courtesy Nissan website for prices and availability.

I've gone through and made a spread sheet that another member started. It has all the suspension PNs, threading, sizes, etc. if anyone is interested. Just PM me your email.

Awesome site, how is it I never saw this in the past 9 years, LOL!

I went to Courtesy and saw the $9 bolt. I have never bought anything from them because of their prices.

Not tomorrow but soon, LOL. Let me know if you find any. According to Wolf Creek they have a 14 MM head, the ones I saw at ACE were bigger than that.

The holes don't appear to be machined to have the should bolt to fit tight. Wolf Creek says to use the stock bolts.

occasionally you'll get lucky with prices on Courtesy. I ordered all my bolts for my suspension rebuild from them and it came out to be 75$ which I didn't think was too bad. Stuff like the half shaft bolts I reused and just bought new nuts and washers.

I had a couple sets of half shafts that had those bolts on them. I may be able to round up a set as well. Thing is I may not be anywhere near those parts until next weekend. I'll let you know if you haven't found anything until then.

When I converted to 280zx CV half shafts I sold all my stock 280 parts. Now that I'm switching to Wolf Creek I had to but it all again, LOL. Hard to believe these bolts are that hard to find. Hopefully nullbound will be able o find some, he's local and a friend. I will post here if I find what I need so you won't look for nothing.

Thanks.

Don't skimp on these bolts. A failure could cause serious damage. These bolts are high grade and have a specific shoulder size and head size. You are not going to find them at the local hardware store or on-line from a hardware "specialist". If you want to try to save a few bucks perhaps you can find some used OE parts at a salvage yard that are in decent condition or on e-bay. At least they will fit correctly even if you are not certain about their service history.
