Kamaka Z
I am having a headlight issue on my newly acquired 77 Z. When i turn on the lights the headlights are not on. When i flip the high beam stalk they come on but when i flip it again the go off again. i have checked the fuses and they are good, where should i look next? beermanpete
Start with the bulbs. If they are good look at the dimmer switch (part of the combination switch).

1969honda
Also check the wiring for the low side to see if you have a short to ground or broken harness, if I remember right they are exposed to the open wheel wells and subject to what ever gets flung/splashed in there. Looks like a nice find by the way! Any plans for improvements or changes? Edited August 20, 2015 by 1969honda
Kamaka Z
Upgraded suspension and brakes are first on the list then start on the body. The frame rails and floors are rock solid so just have to work on the body panels.
Sam280Z
The high / low beam selector switches the ground path. Your problem is likely a corroded connector in the passenger footwell area of the wiring harness.
Kamaka Z
I'll check there first, thanks
NewZed
When i turn on the lights the headlights are not on. When i flip the high beam stalk they come on but when i flip it again the go off again. This is classic dirty-or-stuck-dimmer-switch-contacts behavior. High beam contacts work, low beam don't. Spray some contact cleaner in to the white plastic switch at the base of the turn signal stalk and work it back and forth many times. There's crud and corrosion in there.
