tomb77v8
It adapts the OEM Datsun temperature sender to a Chevy cylinder head.
tyler031734
That's just a pipe thread adapter. Bring both sensors into a hardware or auto parts store and they can find the needed reducer if your not familiar with NPT
Miles
MSA sells the sensor and fitting. This is what the fitting looks like: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/10-1878
tyler031734
Try my route. Local and under $5. The datsun thread pitch is very very close to standard NPT My JTR V8swap book even tells you to do it that way.

tyler031734
Although I always install my temp sensor in the intake manifold itself. If you have an aftermarket intake, you will have the option too. It gets the temp sender away from all the header heat. Here's a pic of my old 1978 with a 400ci small block I installed. I bought the car with the original inline 6 that threw a rod. Edited October 13, 2016 by tyler031734
tomb77v8
Thanks for the responses. I've had the set on backorder with MSA for some months now waiting that adapter so I'll find something locally as suggested.

You may be able to get a new sending unit from an auto parts store and the adapter from Lowes etc. That is how I did mine. Wrapped the threads with teflon tape. No leaks in 10 years. Black Dragon is going out of business, but they may have the sending unit if your local auto parts store doesn't have one.
jhm
Have you checked with JTR, as Tyler suggested? Probably costs a bit more, but may have it quicker for you if you need it asap. http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Parts_DATZ_Wat-Temp-Send.html
Miles
MSA/JTR not cheap. http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Parts_DATZ_Wat-Temp-Send.html Edited October 14, 2016 by Miles
tomb77v8
I ultimately did get it (quickly) from JTR . Sometime I scrape for every savings and sometime I spend a little more to support the companies that are still around. It will end up in the thermostat housing, not the heads. Thanks again.
