Mikelly
Guys, When I got my Cutler FI hardware a busch pump came with the system. the numbers on it are:0-580-254-984. There is another number below that one: 466-15. I need to know what this pump will flow and if it will be OK pushing 42# injectors on a V8 383 application. randy 77zt
if somebody could get some technical books from bosch it would be great-like the kinds of books car manufacturing and race car shops like roush get for building efi systems for race cars.i have a local vw shop that will order bosch parts on a %20 markup-the only catch is no returns.if you ordered it its yours for ever.some of the fuel pumps on old bmw & mercedes cis systems flowed a lot of fuel.knowing what bosch # to look for at pick&pull would save big bucks. Mike That should be the Porsche K-Jetronic pump, flows 3.1 liters per minute @40psi, up to 520 bhp.
Mikelly
So I should be good pushing 42# injectors on a 500HP small block chevy right??? Man that would be a good hting if I don't have to buy another pump! Mike
SleeperZ
That sounds like a killer pump Mikelly! Do you know if they are available separately and for how much? Or if there is an OEM application? I'm thinking about setting up an injector and pump test bench - I should be able to evaluate flow ratings at pressure for pumps and injectors...One of these days I will upgrade the fuel system on my Z (gotta get that da@n intercooler first...) Modern Motorsports Ltd
All bosch pumps can be bought individualy. Several porsches run the same pump, great unit, not cheap by any means. It was at least a $100 more than the bosch I picked out. If you're buying new/ie. full value and aren't doing 450+hp its hard to justify the expense. BLKMGK
Hrm, I too need a pump. How much is "full value"? Looking for something easy to adapt, can support 450 or so, and is rail mount. I can get billet units for $250 or so but those puppies are loud!
Modern Motorsports Ltd
"How much is "full value"?" I just recall it was a fair chunk more. My bosch was $150US, is dead quiet and will support 450hp easily. Scotty started a similar thread recently in which I reposted PN's/specs for some bosch stuff. Mike Don't want to rain on your parade, Mikelly, but on the advice I was given using a theoretical 520 bhp capable pump on a 500 hp engine would be pushing it, greatly. The Bosch Motorsport pump B580 152 460 is rated at 600 bhp but even that would be marginal for your application IMHO, considering that the pump pick up, fuel lines, etc would have to be perfect in order to deliver full flow. Some people use twin pumps on high HP engines but I don't know how they are set up ie in series or parallel.
