Coelocanth81
So, 280Z heater cores have been unavailable for a while now. I've been told a Ford Escort heater core will fit, but I'm unsure of the year. There's also Brassworks - who can reproduce one for the cost of 400 dollars shipped. Anybody got any suggestions? jhm
I don't know how sophisticated a system you're looking for, but the universal units (available from vendors like Summit and Jegs) are very light and compact, and push an unbelievable amount of air. I have this one, and I rigged it to send half the air to the defrosters and half to the footwells. Have been using it for four years with no issues. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-991102-
grannyknot
I did that alternative heater core in my 77 280z, page 8, post#180, https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/60126-just-what-the-doctor-ordered-1977-280z/?&page=8#comments
Grandpa 1
I did the summit alternate heater also. Works great if you just want a heater. I made a frame out of 1 1/2 alum angle and bolted it to the firewall and dash right above the radio. Good luck!
HusseinHolland
Just to add to this - 91-02 Ford Escort base model is the listing to look for unit is slightly narrower & shorter, so expect to add padding/closed cell foam to take up the slack
