jhaag
I'm curious if the Feds have let Larry send a letter to the outside world yet. Has anyone heard from him? John
Guest silverbullet
Hey nezzie76, anything new on Larry's situation yet???
Guest nezzie76
Larry and I have kept in contact through snail mail. So far things seem as okay, well at least decent for living in prison. I haven't had a chance to visit him personally yet, but I hope to soon to see how bad things look. It doesn't look like he'll get out any earlier than his full term b/c once your in prison they have you by the balls. Does anyone have a message that they'd like me to convey to him? He says that he misses the Zs pretty badly.
jhaag
Could you repost his snail mail address? I will send him an article or two of possible interest. Thanks. John
BLKMGK
Curious - can he receive magazine subscriptions? If so perhaps we could get together and get him a few to keep him busy reading up on cars?
CruxGNZ
Good idea! If he can get them, I'll pitch in a few bucks. Larry's a good guy. !M!
Guest nezzie76
I don't know about mag subscriptions. If they do allow it, then that'd be a good idea. I think he gets pretty bored there, and mail is something that I'm pretty sure that he enjoys. Here's his address again: Larry Johnson/ 65400-065 Federal Prison Work Camo P.O. Box 6000 Sheridan, OR 97378 I'm sure he'll appreciate anything that you guys send him.
jhaag
On 4/4 I mailed Larry a substantial package of 5 articles I printed off the web from Total KitCar (British site) and last week's Autoweek. I included a SASE and asked him to let me know if all of it got through. I'll let you know when I hear from him. John

I got a letter from the Federal Bureau of Prisons yesterday that returned my SASE with a form saying that stamps or stamped items cannot be given to prisoners. Hmmmm. It also warned me that for the future the following thing are also forbidden: body hair, plant shavings and sexually explicit personal photos. Well, no problem there. I guess I will assume he got the materials and may not be able to respond in a timely way. I will send him some additional articles and just trust they get through. jhaag
SUCCESS! I got a long letter from Larry last night. All of the articles and the magazine I sent were given to him. The only thing they wouldn't give him was the self addressed, stamped envelope. So....any of you who were thinking about sending Larry some articles or letters, go for it. I will ask him in my next package if he can receive a magazine subscription. While prison is prison, he's in a minimum security place without walls, razor wire or mean guards. He showed a good sense of humor in his letter so it looks like he is making the best of things. John
John Washington
I just received a letter from Larry today and per his wishes will do my best to transcribe it here. The typos are mine...Larry's later is hand-written. I am moved to reflect yet again on the triviality of my daily "problems" in light of Larry's plight, and my disgust with the system that did this to him in the name of a victimless crime of technicality. "April 11, 2003 "Dear John W "Your thoughtful letter and catalog was very welcome to a Z starved addict in need of Z therapy. One fellow is very interested in building a GTO Coupe for his homestate of Washington. I should get out of this penal asylum around December 4, 2004 at the latest. I am still hoping to get released around December 2003 thru a legal technicality of legal notice and due process of law. The 9th Circuit ruled that I could not handle my appeal by myself and appointed a lawyer from Portland, Oregon to act for me. My legal schemes and manuevers could be compared to a "snowball chance in hell" or as futile like "urinating in the wind." But I have hope and refuse to fall down like an abused pup. I really miss the fellows on the HybridZ website and look forward to returning to that great forum and informative occupation. "I am in a minimum security federal work camp less than seventy miles from my home, where my wife can visit me on a regular basis. The inmates in the work facilities are rather civilized individuals as opposed to the ones in the general population of the federal gulag prison system. About the only abuse and violence an inmate would face is from guards hoping to increase the inflation of their fragile egos. No place for a HybridZ Master! "Upon my release, I want to begin construction on the Stable Works 250 GTO on my 78 280Z platform with the stock running gear with my cross lace Dayton wire wheels with 12 inch coilovers to lower the body. The old silver Z engine is a zero oil burner with an automatic. I want to continue my fiberglass mold making with a mold for a full fiberglass roof cap plus a separate "Pantera" style rear hatch. I enjoy the mold making and hope to offer a "UPS" shipable line of small Z car parts like a fiberglass dash combining features of the GTO 250 and Tomahawk Z plus some fiberglass interior door panels. I would like this letter posted on the forum and hoping for some letters from the members with pictures so I can show these white collar criminals, aging gang bangers, pot growers, pornographers and government informants what a real hot rod consists of. "And good luck to you John on reestablishing your Z based business and to the other parts vendors that work so hard to keep us diehards supplied with Z parts. Actually I was very fortunate to be designated as a minimum security inmate with firearm violations. Send pictures and absolutely no money for my commissary fund since the money will be confiscated to pay my $1400.00 felony fee assessment. They stole a gun collection worth a small fortune and I have lost too much already. Guest tt350
Im pretty new here, and I dont really know the guy. But I saw what hes got, and the guy is top-notch. I feel real bad about this, and I really feel bad for our government. At the young age of 19, I have already been harassed 3 times (including jail time) by the feds, just fo being a Palestinian with a beard. And thats in the "Land of Freedom". In my homeland (Palastine), the land of "Genocide and Army vs. Civilians", I have been treated with even less respect, having been shot twice for "riot control" at the age of 8! Where's a guy to live, if America cant provide a safe place. (I was born in Santa Clara, CA by the way!). I have guns sure, but I havent done anthing besides shoot at the range (I have a remington rifle), and the Feds labeled me as a terrorist for that, and put me and my family through a ***tload. I really hate racism, and if our media did not portray everone outside America's borders (anyone who isnt white) as terrorists, uncivilized, or whatever, we would have a lot less of this problem. Just my input, and I hope the guy gets out real soon. Dammit, now Im gettin all pumped up again. I wish someone knew a lot about the legal system here so we can setup some kind of activity to get him out, cuz he sure as hell dont belong there! Good luck man. Turbo280Zcar
Larry, Pres Bush, Whom I am a heavy supporter of, has recently refered to our forefathers and the founders of this nation to justify his modern war with Iraq. The constitution cleary states we have the right to bear arms. I also understand the need for gun control, but go after the ones who are flooding the streets with illegal weapons, not the stand up citizens who don't say boo to anyone. Your fight is justified, don't give up. I hold you in the highest regard and I wil pray for you while incarcerated. Stay cool and keep the faith. Your posts have been awesome!! jhaag
Larry seems to be holding up OK with the stress of his incarceration. He has gotten every one of my three CARE packages of photocopied Z articles, last month's car magazines, etc. He has written me several notes of appreciation so I know he would appreciate anything anyone else wanted to send him. His address is listed in one of the earlier, but still fairly recent, posts. (I forgot my address book at home). It has only cost about $2 - $3 per package to mail the thick packages at the book rate which takes 5 days to get to Oregon from Denver. Mikelly
Man, after reading the last couple pages of this thread, it certainly puts life into perspective. I'm a gun owner, and have had an FFL license. I also used to be one of those federal officers another member suggested we all shoot in the head (Since we wear bullet prrof vests!). I don't want Larry in there anymore than any of you guys, and yea, I'm certainly disappointed at the system as well. But the last thing I would condone is butting up against the federal government. It is a loosing battle against a force with endless resources. I hope Larry gets out soon... And if you guys want to organize a fund for magazines, let me know and I'll chip in, or set it up through my paypal account... Just let me know what you want to do... This sucks on soooo many levels. Godspeed Larry, Godspeed... Mike Kelly

Pop N Wood
I also used to be one of those federal officers another member suggested we all shoot in the head (Since we wear bullet prrof vests!). Ahh, don't need to rely on head shots. A 30-06 will easily punch through a vest. A 338 if they have the riot vests.
