Guest Look A Z
Hey everyone I might be getting a paint job soon. Just wondering how is the Maaco paint jobs? If it isn't worth it then I will just go to my brother's old work because he use to work at a body shop and they would help me out there. Kevin.pk
i had the bumper on my last car.... a saturn.. painted by maaco... with in one year it started to flake heavily and over all it was a crappy job... cracks showed up in teh paint and many imperfections... in my experience maaco is not a quality place to get your paint job done... IMO you are better off getting that hook up wiht your brothe's old work Kevin
Guest Anonymous
Youre better off with spray paint. Maaco sucks.
Guest Phil1934
Just to get a gallon of primer, paint and a pack of 320 I spend $500. You get what you pay for and cheap paint just won't cut it with acid rain.
CruxGNZ
You only use Maaco for a car that you just recently fixed and want to send it down the road with a "brand new" paint job. Or that's what we do around here . You get what you pay for. !M!
Guest Anonymous
If your interested in keeping the car for a while, save your money and look elswhere. When it comes to painting a car don't cheap out, you'll only get what you pay for. Ron E good luck
Guest nezzie76
Actually I've had two cars painted by Maaco and haven't really had any problems. The copcar that I drive now was painted about 2 years ago, and so far the paint has held up fine. It isn't flaking or anything. However when they masked the car originally they over masked a few spots so the old paint showed through in a couple of spot. All in all though, I thought that it was a pretty good deal. Guest Anonymous
i think it really depends on which maaco you go to, because i have heard some good stories. regardless, i'll never go back. i had a car painted there and they completely half assed it. they didnt sand a damn thing down, hell, they didnt even wash it. when i got my car back i saw the remains of dead bugs and bird **** underneath my paint. they just sprayed away. 2 weeks later, it peeled. so.. my opinion: STAY AWAY. there are plenty other body shops that will paint 10x better for just a little more. Boobala
Little story about cheap paint jobs. Not Macco, but Earl Shives. I had a freind who had his pickup painted at Earl Shives. He left a McDonalds cup in the bed. Earl Shives painted the cup.

Guest cbrunberg
I hired a guy to do the prepwork on my truck, and then went to "One Day Paint and Body" I bought their second from the bottom paint job and have been really happy with it. Cost.....$150.00 for the prep (sanding, some filler and some primer) $375 for the paint job. The job is only as good as the prep. My guy was hungry and needed the cash. He worked at my shop and used my tools. Any how the paint is bright red and is in the sun everyday for 3 years and still looks good. Good luck Carl

Afshin
one of the most important steps in painting is the prep work which no cheap shop will do appropriately. The good thing is that basic prep is easy to do. Get some paint degreaser/wax remover from the paint shop and apply it to the car. this is an easy an important step which is frequently missed (I would defintely do this even if you end up taking it to a decent shop), any wax or grease will cause the paint to peel. Furthermore sanding does not remove all the wax and grease, since they penetrate into the paint. After using the degreaser you can use fine sandpaper to go over the entire car (the goal is only to scuff up the paint and remove surface junk, not to remove paint, so you just do it lightly and consistently until the paint is no longer shiny). These 2 easy steps will usually make even a cheap Maaco paint job stay on for a good few years. Off course it will still look like a cheap paint job, but it won't peel and crack in a year. Good luck

john kosmatka
If its a car you plan on keeping take it to a good body shop. One you have done business with before and you know they will do it right.
fl327
man i have a lot of stories about the Duke of Earl and Fake-O i have used them in the past to paint cars i wanted to sell that would sell for a lot mroe with paint, i had a crx and a civic painted. I would not use them for a car i wanted to keep around, imagine looking at all those imperfections everyday, that would suck!!!! ive seen them paint over dirt a few times, and have watched paint fall off with the first wash. ive seen them paint straight over lights and overspray across an entire engine bay, from the radiator to the distributor (chevy in the back) ive seen them lay down drips that go from the top of the quarter all the way to the wheel well, and then caught a fingerprint or two from the spray guy trying to stop the run with his hands!!!! you really cant blame them, what do you expect for a 200.00 paint job. its not THAT bad i guess, at least it would be one color, right?
