stony
well it held up to a 4500rpm launch with lots of wheel spin before i would have broke a shaft. on teh second run decreased tire pressure launched the same and improved my time to 11.4 @ 125 MPH.. 3rd run decided to lower tire pressure to 20 psi do a good burnout and try the same launch. It launched hard but when i power shifted into 2nd the clutch let go ;<. Im pretty confident the rear will hold now i need a clutch ... time to call japan
BRAD D
That is good to hear stony. but to bad about the clutch. I wonder if a 300ZXTT clutch would bolt up? Then you could get a center force unit. For not too much cash. http://www.optauto.com/webstore/product_information.asp?number=CF-D502502&variation=&aitem=26&mitem=35&back=yes&dept=
Bob_H
Based on my research when I had to find a pilot tool, the 300zx clutch should be identical. The dimensions are the same,(overall dia), and I know the spline count is the same,(I used the 300zxTT clutch pilot tool). Still, not a cheap clutch. You might consider finding someplace that will sell you only the clutch disc, as I have no idea if the pressure plate is the same..., but you more than likely need both. Time for that OS Giken or similar clutch... -Bob
stony
im gonna be in contact with a friend in japan and probably go with a stock gtr unit. i currently have a sr20det disk with a gtr pressure plate. that was the only thing the junk yard had on hand. I wanted to stick with that setup thinking that the clutch would slip before anyuthing would break. well now after upgrading to these axles it is now the weak link. well it will be a while before im make another attemp.. gotta catch up on some of the bills incurred by the money pit. maybe about mid summer i will make it out again. Today was kinda discouraging. i thought a 10 sec slip was in the bag
80LS1T
You ran an 11.4@125mph what's so sad about that? I know you were hoping for a 10.99999999999999999 but 9 out of 10 of us guys would be pretty happy with an 11.4@125mph. You should be happy that nothing broke with a lauch at 4500rpms! Most of us wouldn't dare lauch at that with a good set of tires. Something will break for sure! LOL Guy
stony
My best run from last year before i started breaking was an 11.1 at 127 mph. i was discouraged because i didnt atleast match that.
