Anyone know how old Tomahawk is doing? Is he out yet?

About every other week I send him the magazines I've accumulated in the interim (Autoweek, British kit car, Race Car Engineering, Race Car Technology, Car Craft, Hot Rod, etc.) along with a series of photocopied articles I've saved about V8 and high performance hybrids. It sounds like he is holding up as well as can be expected. I'm sure he'd love a note, some photos of your car or anything else from other people on this list. I'm sure the days seem like each one is 48 hours in length.

he was incarcerated for supposedly having some illegal firearms, which was mostly bullshit from the state, if memory served right.

That sucks. :( I hope he's back soon. :)

When you think about it...that's got to be a scary arrest. "Hey men, stay on your guard, we're arresting this guy because his weapons arsenal is way outta hand here..."

I think it is great that some of you guys have taken an interest in him and send him reading materials. I'm sure he appreciates it and will be joining us again once he gets out. If any of you have info on his parole date, make sure you post it!!

Nezzie, who posts on Hybrid periodially, may know the details. I could be wrong but I think they were working on some fiberglass projects before he started serving his time. I don't know Nezzie's email address but perhaps he will chime in. You might want to read the previous posts in this thread; I'm sure there will be a lot more details. I've been sending him magazines and articles but I don't know Larry beyond his several letters of appreciation he's sent me for the things I sent him in the mail.

Yeah larry is still locked up. He's doing as well as any one can in prison. Of course he can't wait to get out. Unfortunately though, he's starting to realize that he's going to be in there for the long run, and that the prisons are going to do what it takes to slow down his appeals and stuff. I let you guys know more when I visit him to see how he's doing.

Here is what Larry sent me on March 31 after I asked him if he'd like me to post a letter from him to Hybrid Z. I'm sure he would love to hear from anyone. As you will read, the system seems like it might be having a negative impact on his health. His address is:

Larry Johnson 65400-065

Federal Prison Work Camp

P.O. Box 6000

Sheridan, OR 97378

"Hello John,

I have neglected to write since have been quite busy with the legal work. Your magazines do get thru when you make notations on the outside of the envelope with how many magazines are in the envelope. [several of my packages of magazines were returned to me as undeliverable because I didn't write the contents on the package and because I sent more than three magazines at a time.]

I should get out in December of this year. I was sentenced to 33 months. I have served approximately 17 months. The Bureau of Prisons gives an inmate 59 days of good time credit for each year served. I lost 13 days of good time credit for having illegal contraband—another inmate’s legal material.. What I had was a “published case law†memorandum opinion by a Washington, DC federal judge. The other “inmate†was Shauna Lyn Cutler, a female “inmate†who never served time in a federal prison. After the “memorandum opinion†was seized, I was “arrested†and placed in “segregated housing†for four days on investigation for assaulting another inmate. From the arrest, I was transferred to the “hole†which is a maximum security facility located in a medium security correctional facility from a minimum security work camp. Accordingly, this is an illegal transfer pursuant to federal court rules when an inmate has a habeas corpus proceeding in court without the approval of the transfer from a judge. I have three habeas corpus proceedings in court. While at the “hole†my heart medications were not given to me. Upon release at Camp Medical, my blood pressure was monitored at 191/113 on March 18 (Thursday) and the following Friday, March 26th I was hospitalized for severe hypertension and a faulty EKG. The hospital staff, after tests and evaluation, concluded that I did not have a heart attach and released me back to the work camp with orders that I am to return to the hospital the following Monday for further testing. Monday, my blood pressure was 207/114 but this foreign physician’s assistant , who is not even licensed to practice in Oregon, decided due to monetary influences NOT to send me back to the hospital for further testing. The ‘physician’s assistant’ is the same incompetent medical staffer that did not provide me with medication at the “holeâ€. The assault charges were dropped (but I am getting ahead of myself). I was charged with not attending a medical appointment—a blood test for halfway house placement in December. I go to a hearing on Thursday, March 25 and tell them I was too sick and unaware of the appointment for the blood test. They recommended 16 days of my good time credit be removed. The next day I go to the hospital for hypertension in an ambulance. In the meantime, I am reading Alekzander Solzhenitsyn’s The Cancer Ward and now the first circle after previously reading One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. [i don’t understand what he means here, although I highly recommend the One Day in the Life book]. We have gulag in America and it is underfunded now due to all the police actions in world spreading freedom and Coca Cola. Hey, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and have about 10 bags of microwave popcorn left. I am writing a writ of mandamus to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals with more details of this sorry existence. So…you’ve got in-laws in Portland, Oregon? You can come out and see me one day….next year? Hey, I’m off work a week too due to the hypertension and anxiety.

I know from a family member that served time that one thing inmates really like is care packages with cookies and other food and stuff because they get fed crap in there. Does he have someone sending him that kind of stuff? I dont know Larry, but I remember reading his story on here and that is kind of a screwed up situation. I hope he is doing ok.
