TomoHawk Posted July 12, 2003 Share Posted July 12, 2003 Datsun supposeedly (strole) the design for the 6 cylinder engine from Mercedes, as is known from an old lawsuit, won by Mercedes, but what engine was the design copied? In 1966 Nissan acquired Prince Motors (and its expertise) and the L-16 appeared soon after in the 1968 510. I have read several books on the history of Nissan and I cannot recall Nissan (nor Prince) ever making engines for Mercedes on licence. Can you tell us more of this lawsuit? Afshin Posted July 18, 2003 Share Posted July 18, 2003 I clearly remember reading an article a while back claiming that nissan was actually paying royalties to Mercedes for using/copying their design. this does not mean that Prince motors was not responsible for the final product.
