My brother wanted to watch a scary movie. I rented It. It was over 4 years ago, but just holding the DVD today is getting me worked up. Never have I been so messed up by a movie. I now debate whether or not to even let him watch it (he's 16).

I havent seen any of the movies you all are talking about. I am just a total wuss. How about I watch IT and let you know how it affects me, then you can tell how it would probably affect a 16 year-old

BTW, at the risk of sounding un-American or something, what is the name of that movie?

what movie? IT?

if you mean it. then the movie is called... "IT"

wow that sounds confusing.

Oh, ok, I get It.

I thought it was called Toy something or something Toys. My older brother tried to get me to watch a movie with a scary *$$ clown like that when I was really little, but hey, that's what big brothers are supposed to do.:lol:

My dad (what was he thinking) took me to see the Exorcist in the theaters when it first came out. I think I was 10 or 12, can't remember. Being raised Catholic and "knowing" this was absolutely true, I was scared pooless for months afterwards and my mom was really pissed at my dad.

I didn't see it in the theather but, watched it on TV with my parents. They always thought I was mature for my age and could watch things like that. I agree what were they thinking. That movie scaried the crap out of. Another one was the irst "Nightmare on Elm Street" I had crazy dreams for months.

david, The Ring scared me too and I am 28 years old. I think the steven king movies were pretty lame. They just didn't scare me. Just like a lot of other movies in this genre they are just to stupid. but then The Ring came out. I watched it in the theater together with my girlfriend and man did we have a hard time falling asleep that night. This made me take a different view on the king movies (like IT).

There are advantages in not being able to sleep. You can sort of lay awake and do other things with your girlfriend :D

go see The Ring

I have read like 18 Stephen King books since I was about 14 (14 years ago). Only one of the movies ever did justice to the book. It was "The Dark Half", and it was just about his worst book. You have to read a bunch of his books to appreciate his talent for creating a universe and then cleverly connecting that universe to the others he has created. A lot of his books I consider more fantasy than horror, even though he is marketed as a horror author.

I have to second Aaron's note. King horror books by and large don't translate well to film. His *non-horror* stuff does though - "Stand By Me" and "The Shawshank Redemption" were really awesome. Actually, one of the horror stories did translate well - "The Dead Zone" with Christopher Walken. But that was all about Walken, the guy looks, well, *abnormal* at the best of times - there's a lousy series on cable with the same premise, don't watch that one.

Best horror movie of all time? "Hill House". Didn't ever see a ghost, weren't even sure there were any (is it all in her head?), scary as he||.

Some others:

Most beautiful horror move of all time? "The Cell"

Sweatiest horror/SciFi movie of all time? "Alien"

Weirdest monster-creepin-up-on-the-guy-who's-gonna-get-it: "The Ring" (Lesson to take away from that movie: TV is bad for you. Very very bad.)

I remember making the mistake of letting my 7 year old son see IT! Crap I think it took a few years to get over it. I could walk by his room and say HEY KID! WANNA PLAY! He would come unglued.

My wife said for several years he was so afraid to take a shower alone in the bathroom he would have his mom come in the bathroom and talk to him cause he was afraid the Clown was coming thru the drain for him.
