actually, I know the guy mookie. He's like me in sense that he got fed up with neons.org ricer mentality.

as far as my neon, it's a 99 r/t with a 2 liter dohc motor. mods are solidified motor mounts (vibrates like magic fingers), intake, ecu, mopar header, underdrive pulley, hawk performance autox pads for brakes, 22mm adjustable rear sway bar. I ran 15.6@89mph with intake and ECU only.

I work at a chrystler dealership and we just had a service meeting, which entales watching a movie about updates on new vehicles...

The new SRT-4 Neon is rated at 245ft-lbs of torque and like 220 HP. I cant remember if those are exact but I know they are both above 200HP @ the flywheel. Not too bad for a little Neon! I still wouldnt buy one but thats just me. Im hooked on V-8's :D

actually, those srt-4s dyno 220 at the wheels. they're severely underrated, and with a competent driver can break out of 14s in stock form.

Impressive for sure, but a Z06 is certainly is not!! And these are the leaders of the future....where is Darwin!!:lol::roll:

I dont know where your getting your info from Auxilury but I got mine from Chrystler/Dodge/Mopar and I know there have been instances when there have been underated numbers but they actually just upped the HP#'s and TQ#'s this last month.

If they were 220@ the wheels that would me that that little 4 banger is putting out about 260HP @ the crank(15% drivetrain loss). I just dont see 260HP out of that Neon.

There is an example of why I am glad the moderators here are controlling the quality of this wonderful site.

Choosing between a neon and a Z06 corvette?

who the H-E-double hockey sticks interested in performance is going to even ponder that question!!!! I would hate to have stuff like that going on here.

Thank you moderators for watching out for this site and keeping it resourceful.

The reason hp and torque #s were upped is because Dodge is now shipping the '04 srt4 with stage 1 kit' date=' which is injectors and reprogrammed ECU

Given that there are guys running 14.0 1/4 mile times in stock form, I'd venture a guess that that's about hte power needed to move a 2700lbs sedan that fast. What's difficult to believe? In 92 dodge made a limited production run of the Spirit R/T, a little boxy pos sedan that C&D clocked at 14.5 in hte 1/4. It had a 2.2 liter turbo that made 220hp and 217 tq.

Oh, and there's always dyno charts :)

Yeah for the most part all the "gremlins" are worked out. I still have to fix my header once and for all! But atleast I know what is wrong there! :D I plan on taking it off this week and and welding it up so that there is no possible places for it to leak. It wont be pretty but it will be finally fixed.

It seemed to me that the owner of this thread was commenting on so many people choosing the neon over the Z06... the vote over there is currently 71 for the Z06 to 28 for the Neon. That is still a lot for the neon.... but hey... They are ricers... at least they are consistent... = )
