Guest ON3GO
its a bad day for mikes i guess. 1st mike kelly.. now me.. there i was getting the 24 impact socket off the nut on the rear control arm when i turn my head for a sec and look right back at it then WHAM the socket falls off and nails me in the head, then the F'en 10lb nut that holds that sucker on there (i swear thats the biggest nut i have ever seen). the nut then hits my glasses and breaks them then the control arm falls off and hits me in the head too. i dont no what happened after because my dad found me i guess 10mins later sleeping. or as he thought. i swear this Z hates me. the exhaust wont un-bolt, so i cant get my sway bar off... those damn long ass pivoit bolts wont come off.. it took me like 8 hours to get one bolt off, off of the hub to the u-joint. the car almost fell off the jackstands... on of the jacks started to tip when we were jacking up the passenger side conrtol arm.. then WAM it falls (the jackstand) and all that saved us or me cuz i was on that side was another jackstand that was under the car by mistake! wow... what a day what a day. im going outside and laying in the pool with some corona and lime... mike
David K
Geez mike, i think its time for you to take off the gloves and beat that cars ass! As for the exhaust, cut the sucker off!
spotfitz
I have always been a firm believer in a jackstand, but I also go one step further and throw an old tire w/ rim under each side of the car just under the doors. In the case of an accidental tipped stand the car will land on the tire and usually not body parts, unless there between the car and the tire. Don't bother to ask how I know that one. Guest ON3GO
spotfitz i do that too with the tires... i just had a jackstand there too and it stoped the car before the tires did.. which is good because i was about 2 to 3ins away from the drum brake to rip my nuts off and my lower body. yeah i no david! this bastard of a car is giving me a non tsop pain in my ASS.. i swear the car should be happy, im giving it a killer suspension, wheels, tires, motor, body work etc! and it treats me like crap.. oh well off to my 3rd corona.. giants and cowboys game is on soon!!!!!!!!! GOOOOOOO GIANTS!! BIG BLUE!!! mike
Hybrid240z
I get so tired of stuck nuts and bolts these days that I don't mess with them too much after I verify that they are really stuck. I call the Doctor in for surgery. I go at them with a rotary (dremel) tool and get them off any way I can. Case in point: We couldn't get the nut that holds the axle in at the rotor end on a 95 Nissan 200SX. We broke two breaker bars, with cheater bars on the breakers, trying to get it off. We almost thought it was on there with Locktite. I finally cut two slits, 180 degrees away from each other, on the nut and broke it apart with a srewdriver. My new philosophy is: "If you can't beat it, Kill it. Marcos
denny411
Mike, i think you need to slow down and take a little more relaxed approach to your car. There is usually an easy way to do everything if you just sit back, relax, and look at it from a different point of view. As for the stands tipping, I suggest getting a set of four, 6 ton stands. they have a much wider base which makes them less likely to tip. Maybe you could wear a full face helmet to protect your glasses,(and your melon)
z-REX
oh i,m sure there are bigger nuts somewhere 8) but i'd be damned if they're hitting me in the head

Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
oh i,m sure there are bigger nuts somewhere 8) but i'd be damned if they're hitting me in the head Heh heh, ya ON3GO, and just be glad the nuts aint hittin you in the chin I found this really good lube at ACE hardware the other day that is excellent for breaking stuff loose. I used it on my exhaust manifold and those nuts came off like they werent even torqued! I have never seen such a good penetrating lube. But, as always, I am posting from work so I dont know the name of the stuff off the top of my head
Guest 240hybrid
I think you've got the right idea now, Corona.... . Get this, I had a coworker that said that he was swapping his trans in his truck, and it slipped and landed on his head. Also the same guy was working underneath a small dualie ( spelling??) U haul, when all of the sudden, the parking brake cable broke and the dualie tires ran him over him. He then got up and ran after the U haul and put the brakes on, he said he was pulling pebbles and rocks out of his back and the side of his face after going to the hospital. Guy was a nut, but fun to work with.
Guest Want aZ
Just 2 words....PJ Blaster...The stuff is simply amazing, having worked on Heavy Equipment for the last 20 years. Ive seen Rusty Frozen Nuts on a hard worked dozer that wont hold up to this stuff. Spray It on, let it soak in for 24 hours, hit it again in the morning, then wrench it off. I've 2 cans of the stuff in my shed. My last exhaust manifold that I pulled, Sprayed it on warm, let sit for 30 min, and was able to back the bolts out with just a ratchet. Just give it a try. Guest ON3GO
Want aZ where could i get this stuff? i cant budge this bolts! mike
z-REX
any halfway respectable h'ware or autoparts store has pb blaster, and i'll vouch for it's results. my old exhaust was a bolt-togethet job in what seemed like 30-gauge aluminum foil that rusted solid, but a merte few hours after soaking withblaster, it pulled right apart. it's my hero. Cruez
PB blaster, that's the stuff...... My garage is naked without a can of that stuff around... After breaking a bolt off for the water pump on the z.....I used pliers, vice grips.....you name it.... there was a small tit that I could barely get to...... someone told me about that stuff, so I got some and put it on....let is set for a while.....and voila... it came out with a pair of regular pliers.... that stuff is amazing... Guest ON3GO
oh yeah nevermind i have like 4 cans of PB blaster... but it still wont work on some of my bolts. its seems nothing and i mean NOTHING has ever been changed on my Z. mike
denny411
I picked up some stuff at a combine salvage yard made by Zep, called Twister. IMO, it puts Blaster to shame. It costs 6 bucks a can but is in a larger can than blaster. I go thru about a can a year, and I use it on everything.
