Guest Anonymous
I bought JB's monster flaired Z car. First goal is to get it structurally sound. Floor pans and frame rails have been ordered. It will end up as a track car with full cage and ls1 or ls6 under the hood. Still undecided on the trans. Check out this frame rail.

Tim240z
U lucky bastard!!! I wanted that car bad (as you probably know since everytime it came up for sale we both dived in with both feet...I'm just geographically challenged, otherwise it WOULD be in my garage!!) Good luck. Guest Anonymous
Tim, This car is SO rough. I almost backed out. It will need floor pans frame rails, the rear shelf area where the hatch closes (all ordered) and how the rear flairs were done will need some major reworking to save the car. The floors had the dreaded fiberglass rust repair. But I have a project that will keep me busy and off the couch this winter and probably many more to come. I'll post pics as I make progress. Cruez
Aren't you running out of room Mark ? Is it a roller or what's in it now? I haven't been paying attention. Looks like you have plenty of room for even larger meats on it.... Does this mean retirement from the track for the yellow beast?
Guest Anonymous
Cruz, Yes this means the eventual retirement from track days for the yellow car. This is to nice of a car to continually track. The blue car has a 350 in it now but with hooker mounts. I'll be selling the motor soon
z-REX
how's the 350? strong? if so let me know when you're selling it.... i might be interested!

jt1
Cool deal Mark. That will make an awesome track car, it's got room to run some big meats on it. Those GT1 cars better get out of the way. I agree your yellow car is just to nice to track and get sandblasted, or maybe bent up. It's really sweet. John
Guest ZmeFly
yellow Z to the track werent your afraid everytime you went that something might happen to her i know i would be. heh thats some pic of the frame rail. seems you have some work ahead of you but the car doesnt look to bad. at least not from a picture view, i guess that goes to show you really cant judge anything by the look of it without really seeing it
Guest Anonymous
Well the floor pans and frame rails were fixable but when I pulled the rear fender liners and found my fifth rats nest the project fell off a cliff. The car was rusty when the fiberglass work was done. Instead of fixing the rust or cutting it out, some guiness stuffed the rust holes with news paper and fiberglassed over everything. Now I know where the rats were getting there building materials. The newspaper supplied a nice place for moisture to accumulate and further sped up the rust. The inner and outer rocker pannels that were under the fiberglass, between the door and the rear wheel, were almost see thru and falling off the car. Out came the sawzall and I'm cutting the flairs off the rear of the car. May use them on another project or may sell them. I have the Gnose and front fenders on the floor next to the motor. May use them, may sell them. Now will start to totally strip the car to the bare rusty shell and take it to the recycler. Bummed out. But I'm not going to the track in a car that may break inhalf at 100 plus. On to the next project. Mark

JB_BA
Mark, I'm VERY sorry to hear about this. I honestly had no clue that the car was in the condition that you discovered. Keep in mind that I'd spent MY money replacing the motor that the previous "mechanic" so splendidly threw into the car. It looks like the whole project was a slop job when I got it. I hadn't even gotten around to the interior etc. and so never discovered the things that you did. (Luckily. Otherwise I may have had a nervous breakdown... ) I apologize for selling the car to you in that condition, if I'd had any knowledge that it was in that condition I would have parted it out. zbobo, I did the second motor swap with some buddies, and it was running excellent when Mark got it, no overheating issues at all. It was running rich, but I'm thinking that the carb simply needed adjusting. If not, Mark can sell that 750 and whoever gets the motor can downgrade to a 650 maybe? (That's if he's intrested in selling it.) The only other thing the motor needed was a grommit for a valve cover. Again, I apologize Mark. In one way, it's a good thing you got me out from behind the wheel, as I may have gotten new half shafts and taken it right back out on the road/track...that would've obviously been a dangerous move. I don't know who did the original work on this thing, but I hope they never get their hands on another Z!!! Now I feel like a crook, but I think you can likly get your money back by parting it out Mark, JB
Guest Anonymous
JB, No hard feelings at all. I knew what I was getting in to and knew this was a possibility. I guess you don't need to look for the title now . I have a nice collection of parts and may put them on another car. Yes I'm selling the motor if anyone is interseted. Best offer takes it. The further I got into the car I really started feeling sorry for you because you depended on this for transportation. It was really an accident waiting to happen. JB_BA
If Mark is selling the motor as is, you can take a look at http://www.angelfire.com/pro/rkr/240.html for the specs on the motor. I never had the car on a dyno, but you guys can probably make a decent educated guess from the setup. Good luck with the sale Mark. jt1
That really sucks for both of you. I'm sorry to see it turn out this way. When the guy in Austin had that car for sale, I was on the razor's edge of buying it. I had made up my mind on the money, but couldn't get the transportation worked out. I hate to see this happen to you fellows because it could have been me if I had found someone to go get it for me. Kinda makes me think of meeting a good looking woman who turns out to be a real bitch. John
