JMortensen
Isn't that really a roadster 5-speed? Jon
auxilary
no, that's the datsun competition tranny, the numbers match up. by the way, to the newbie poster, you're in the wrong forum. go to buy/sell forum
JMortensen
Maybe I phrased that wrong. Didn't a tranny with the same gear ratios, same steel synchros, and 2 piece driveshaft come in a roadster. I gave one just like that to a buddy of mine. Also gave him a second one with a one piece driveshaft and a 3.3:1 1st gear. He used the main shaft from the trans with the one piece driveshaft and put the closer gearset on it. It worked out pretty good. Or did I unwittingly give him a Nissan Comp tranny? Doesn't really matter anyhow, but I'm curious now... CU Zcar
Didn't the Roadster 5spd's have a separate bellhousing? I thought the conversion to let you use one in the 240Z's mainly consisted of a new bellhousing, though I suppose it could have been the whole forward section of the tranny (from the center bearing plate forward)? But that tranny there looks just like the 5spd my Roadster-owning friend has been trying to sell me, especially the funky output flange. No driveshaft tho :-/ I'd have to find one or have one made. Didn't some of the Nissan Comp 5spd's have a 1:1 fifth gear?
CU Zcar
I'll go ahead and answer most of my own questions http://www.zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/AandBtranny.htm http://www.zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/GearRatios.html
260DET
The five speed which came out of my spare 5/71 Z has a separate bell housing. But the rear casing is heavily ribbed, unlike those pictured.
Guest gasgas
I have a 5 speed out of a 74 260z. If you want it I will take $100 for it. Marc Williams Plainview Texas 79072 mwilliams454@sprintpcs.com
