Ford Members Check-In

Guest buschj

Recommended Posts

I think it’s time for an update from all Ford members. Our forum needs a jump-start.

My update:

The car is almost ready for etching primer

Fuel cell box welded and mounted (1 ½ square tube, 20 gauge sheet metal)

Fuel Cell installed (JAZ circle-track, remote filler behind license plate)

When it’s too cold to do bodywork, I’ve been working on the electrical. The whole car has been rewired with the looms and fuse blocks from a 95’ Mustang. What have you guys been doing?

Getting closer to paint. Wanted to finish up the fuel cell change-out while the weather is still too cold to paint. I had a 12 gallon Harwood poly cell in the car, but due to reasons unique to my set-up, I needed a more rigid cell, and a larger one as well. The local sheet metal shop was given plans and they welded up a 17 gallon cell for me. Here is a picture without foam or a top on it. The top is being put on this week and everything is looking good for a spring paint job. Finally I've got a cell that clears the exhaust, rear suspension pieces, and the rear bodywork modifications.

Somehow this post slipped by me. Anways I have it stripped of interior and I am currently working on wiring and a port/polish on the fuel injection intake I bought a few weeks ago. Trying to go through the harness and get all wired up. I recently got a friend of mine to start making the subframe connectors and my uncle is going to come up and weld them in and help me with some misc body work. Still gotta fix the brakes and if money allows I will be doing a CV conversion with Ross C's adapters. Then it will be off to paint jail.

Hey, I thought I would let you guys know that I have a Ford cross member mount for sale, it's the one that Alsil makes. I am not going to be able to use it right now and need the money. I am posting it in the for sale area. I have the ford V8 motor mounts with it to. All brand new.

Thanks,

Jason

Hi guys. I put up some photos of my project.

http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/g_wheeler2001/album?.dir=/Project+500Z

It's a 1972 240Z, with a 91 Mustang 5.0 HO, with EFI, and a T5. I've been working on it for about 18 months, and I just fired it up this week.

I made my own engine mount cross-member similar to others out there. It's pretty rough, but I consider it a first prototype. I made the tranny mount in the same fashion as the Chevy conversion manual, with a rubber bushing from McMaster-Carr bolted to a chunk of aluminum machined to mate to the T5. I haven't figured out exhaust yet. You can see the stock Mustang headers in the photos, but they're just sitting loosely so I don't fry my wiring harness when I fire it up. They don't exactly clear everything.

Other mods:

Toyota 2-piston front calipers

Cross-drilled front rotors

Stainless steel brake lines

Wheel spacers

16x7 Mille Miglia wheels

Yokohama 225/50R16 A520 tires

Motorsport front and rear anti-roll bars

Stiffer steering coupler

Stiffer steering rack bushings

Grant steering wheel (better than you'd think)

Mustang Cobra leather shift knob

I'm working on a clutch slave cylinder now. Then I have to get a drive shaft made. Then I have to do something about exhaust. After installing the radiator (280Z) and dual electric fans, it should be driveable, though I won't have any gauges.

yeah just been busy at work- moving the retail store to a new location and this year had our first kid-- she just turned one last month so the past year has been a blur

still racing-- just got back from Thunderhill the SCCA double nationals-- finished second one day and 3rd the other..

i have 2 heims in my steering and the mounts are custom made-

AFAIK dans setup is "almost" identical to mine- i would think we are within a 1/4" of each other ( as i copied his layout! ) our mounts we each made one off my hand so those would be different- i have a jig already make to make a x-member to fit this setup but havent had time to actually make more than the jig at this point--

i believe most of what Dan and i have done is posted elsewhere on hybrid you just have to search some--
