80LS1T
After I made the driver side header I decided that I didnt want to have to make a header again for my car when this one rusts out. So I sent it to Jet Hot Coatings to be coated in their "Stearling" (sp?) finish. Man does this stuff look nice! 8) Guy
Tim240z
Fixed the image post (would have thought that you'd be able to link pictures by now!! ) Looks nice too!! and the pictures don't do it justice either...I know when I got my headers back from Rewarder, I was like...damn...are those the POS headers I built?! Cool dude! BTW, it's "Sterling"
BillZ260
COST??
Tim240z
Mine cost ~$110 for the pair, but they are full length...bit cheaper for shorties...I think that Jet Hot is a bit more pricey? Rewarder is local for me, so I didn't have to ship.....
Guest JAMIE T
The Jet Hot Hooker Super Competition headers on my Z28 arerusting. The coating started flaking off after only one year. The car does get driven everyday including in the snow, and that means salt and sand.
CruxGNZ
Wow! Looks nice Guy 8) Why is your DS header flange cut up? !M!
TOMAHAWKZ
Jamie if your coating is flaking off you might be able to get them warrantied. jet hot will recoat them for free if it was due to their mistake.. Thomahawkz
z-REX
oh nice, those look great! nice handiwork as well!
80LS1T
I think I fixed the link now! Matt if you are talking about the spaces between the outside tubes and the two inside tubes on the flange, I cut those just incase there was any imperfections from me welding on the new pipes which may have cause the flange to warp. This way the two outside pipes are "on there own" and bolt down nice and tight to the head. The cost was $199 coated and shipped back to my door. The Jet Hot Coating has a 3 year unlimited warrenty for defects. So if yours is "flaking" off then I would send them back for recoating. Oh and Tim you are right about the coating covering up the uglyness of the header! I thought the same thing when I opened the box to day! Guest JAMIE T
How do you take the headers off your daily driver? Like, what do you drive while they have your headers for a month? And, have you ever put headers on a 4th gen F-body? When I finally pull the motor for the Z swap, I'll send the headers in then, so that who ever buys the rolling body will have a set of freshly coated headers. It's my opinion that this type of coating is not for daily driven vehicles.
Savage42
Jet Hot came out with a newer extreme hi-temp coating several years back. I had an exhaust mainfold done for my 510 about a decade ago and it still looks good. The stuff will definitely withstand "daily driver" duty!! Not all coatings are created equal and you want to coat them while they are new. Chrome headers must be stripped before coating. Anyway, I've only dealt with Jet Hot with great results and I got the manifold back in a week. So, there you go.
