auxilary
Wankels make a metric buttload of heat. My exhaust manifold is 304 stainless. downpipe from the turbo will also be stainless. I was thinking of running a borla XR1 bullet in the middle with 3" in 3" out, and the entire exhaust system to be 3" OD The muffler needs to be stainless, I don't want it to be loud, and it should be fairly free flowing. I can't use fiberglass packed mufflers because the packing will burn off. I think Borla makes SS mufflers with SS packing. What are my other choices for mufflers that won't break my wallet? I'm looking for under $150-160. That XR1 bullet is 100 bucks by itself

Scottie-GNZ
The muffler I used on the GNZ was a straight-through 3" SS oval built to withstand the rigors of the rotary. If you are interested I will see if they are still available.
Phantom
Look at the SS mufflers made by flowmaster and spintech. Spintech has sosme pretty interesting stuff. Also get on the http://www.drgas.com site and follow some of its links.
jeromio
I got a shorty stainless 3in muffler from MAC Performence. It's very nice and it was very inexpensive. For the LS1, it's not enough for sound. My car is really loud and I will be adding a bullet to the middle (aft of the Y). But it would probably work perfectly by itself with a turbo. Guest 81na ZX
APex'i makes a N1 for FC's and FD's. (na and turbo FC fitments). They also obviously make just N1 mufflers. Heck, it would be really kinda expensive, but I have a Racing Beat muffler for my old fb I could sell ya - but shipping of the whole exhaust (header to tail pipe) from Racing Beat to dearborn, MI was $90... The muffler weighs like 10kg MIN.
Afshin
I previously did a search on mufflers with the same requirements (except for the rotary heat issue). For a balance of high flow, low noise and good cost I came up with the same thing you did, Borla. I plan on replacing my flowmaster (too much drowning at steady highway speeds, otherwise does well) with the borla.

J Taylor
Have you thought about the dynomax ultraflo? Great looking and awesome sounding SS muffler. Here is a place I found a while back that I bought my second one from. They had it in stock and I got it quick. The webpage shows the dimentions of all the mufflers so you can pick the one you need...I use the 17268....fits nicely on the z. http://www.a-1performance.com/ultra_flo/mufflers/ultra_flo_mufflers_page3.htm Hope this helps. Guest Phil1934
Hooker Aero chamber only $60 from Jeg's and has SS guts
Brad-ManQ45
FWIW - I don't believe in using Flowmaster/Spintech/PressureWave technology type mufflers on turbocharged cars - a lot of the noice cancellation ability seems to be lost with the milder pulsations. When I switched form Flowmaster to Dynomax UltraFlow, I picked up power and got a lot quieter...
