Dp351zcar
I am selling my 04 Toyota Tacoma Doublecab and am wanting to buy a 240SX se. I would like to know the good points of eather. I like the 91 to 93 hatch back and the 95-98 SX's. My knowlage is a little limited on these cars and I want to get back into a rear wheel drive car. Guest bastaad525
S14 That's what I'd take. Okay so I dont' have any really scientific explanation for you... but I do believe the 240SX's were a car that did only get better with age. Dead Roman
make sure you get a 97-up s14, they had the cooler looking headlights, more s15 style
Guest bastaad525
absolutely agree there too... the S14 is just a better looking car in general. I believe they handle better as well, and should all have the twin cam engine with slightly more power, whereas the earlier S13's had the single cam and were down like 15 hp. Guest HolyLlama
The 97-up 240sx's are alright, but I like the 91-94s. I've got a 91 with a 96 motor going in it, keeping the 91 intake and distributer on it, though. I like mine because it's a hatchback, and I've beenable to remove most of the junk from the engine bay without repercussions. IMO the body lines and the interior look sportier than the S14. Specifically, the S14's interior reminds me of something a Buick would look like, I don't like the quarter glass shape (quarterglass is one of the first things I notice on a car for some reason), I don't like the trunk, I don't like the rear bumper, and I absolutely hate the taillights. But my neighbour has a black 97 240sx and it looks alright. It may be that the features look better on some colors than others. I still hate the interior, though. Garrett76Zt
whats up guys, hey This is my S14. I managed to get this car for $975! (without rims) and I love it. I use this as my daily while I work on the Z. Its pretty slammed. I bought it and it had KYB's all around and a cat-back on it. Anyways the thing handles like nobodys buisness! Ivan tries to steal it every time I am out of town!
blueovalz
S14....but I'm partial to my '92 SX. With the same effort I've put into my Z, my SX will out handle it. Within a few more years (192K on it and it still runs great) I expect to see some home-made fiberglass body work on it as well.
BayAreaZT
Personally I prefer the S13 coupe body style. The single cam engines were only in 89 and 90 I believe. Pretty common to swap in a latter KA or SR motor though. Here's some nice ones I found at random with a quick search.
Guest PROJECTRB240SX
THE S14 IS THE OVER WEIGHT UNDERPOWERED SISTER TO THE S13..... THE S13 IS THE WAY TO GO IN MY BOOK, BUT OPINIONS ARE DIFFERENT BETWEEN INDIVIDUALS. MY S13 WITH RB20 IS A FUN LITTLE CAR TO DRIVE BUT I LIKE THE Z STYLING AND POTENTIAL. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR SEARCH AND AS ALWAYS WITH NISSAN ITS HARD TO BE DISSAPPOINTED.
BayAreaZT
Yeah, I was going to mention the weight difference but I was not sure of the actual amout. I don't think there is a huge difference but the S13 is lighter. I think they are about the same weight as a 280Z. I just sold my S13 last month but I can see myself picking up another one down the road. I had to choose between the S13 and the S30 and of course the Z won
Guest Aaron
Given these choices, I like the s13 coupe, the s14, then the s13 hatchback.
Zhadman
S13 coupe has ALWAYS been my favorite. Especially with a JDM front end conversion... just not a big fan of pop-ups (except on the 2nd gen RX-7... which I owned! )
Guest bastaad525
Trying to find stats on them now but I think the weight difference is like 200lbs, I had forgotten about the coupes I do like the S13 coupes a lot, and yeah I love the Silvia headlight conversions on them. Well, you know what they say, it's easier to make power than to shave weight, go for the S13.
fl327
Depends on what youre trying to do with it. From my buddies that drift, the s13 guys can all see themselves going s14 down the road, the s13 is lighter and whips around quicker, while the s14 is more stable and takes more hp to drift like the s13 will with the SOHC and a good diff. The DOHC ka vs. the SOHC versions will be right next to each other in a drag race, driver skill being the difference-Seen it too many times. s14s go for a lot more than s13s, being newer of course. If youre going to swap engines s13 probably better, due to obd1. s14 feels more like a acura legend and a s13 feels like an acura integra, but both of them are good driving cars. Im looking for the 97-up version because of the nicer headlights. s13s are abundant out here but the prices on them have gone up a lot for a not so nicely treated one. ON the five lug s14, rb and 300zxtt brakes nearly bolt on!!!
Garrett76Zt
This is my Favorite S14! 8.77 1/4 mile!
Dp351zcar
Thanks guys but i just whimped out. There are not very many 240's around here and the ones I saw were eather over priced junk or way overpriced good ones. Then with gas prices going up again I don't want make bush/cheny any richer. They being from oil backgrounds and still tied to oil, they like it when the price goes up. Ok I whimped out big time and got a honda civic ex. I am going to try to get over 40mpg. Gotta save money for the Z as I still don't have everything for it yet.
fl327
Im on the lookout for a good s13 or s14 at the moment, seems like all the ones in my reigon are overpriced, luck of the draw I guess. Fastest stock 240sx ive seen yet , 89 no sunroof manual windows, was in the passenger seat drag racing against my buddies s13 same year with power everything, and it was worth an entire car lead!
