Guest 240zt
OKIES WHEEE. Finally talked to the guy that lives in the hood with me about the 280z sitting in his drive way. Motor isnt running and clutch is more than likely frozen due to the sitting time. Body is stright as a arrow like no dents at all. Rust is a diff story. Its got them all over like down at the quarter panels tip a spot on the hood that looks like surace rust some near the back hatch blah blah ill get pics tommrow in the daylight and post them. My question is being a non running rusty thang how much is a decent price i mean I dont want the guy to feel like he got raped but I mean its not a outstanding model. Any ways time is not a issue just money and i want to do flares and such any ways so im gonna strip the car throw some electron blue paint on it and redo the suspension. Once it gets up to rolling chassis standereds i guess i would throw in a L28e thats running and make it driveable sell my truck then make me a bad ass L28et. Any ways just wondering thde price i know its hard to imagne without any pictures ill post them ASAP.
datsunlover
I'm gona say it 'sounds' like about a $500 car.. I mean, it doesnt run.. has rust.. and it's a 280.. not as desirable as the 240 or 260s, big ugly bumpers, ect. I got my 280 for $800.. but it ran and drove home (2 hours from me!) without a problem. Being straight and complete are worth something, no mater what make it is when you're dealing with a 30 year old car.. but as for Z's, there are ussually better ones out there.. I dono.. I'd like to see the pic though.. worth a thousand words right?
innerware
if it doesn't run and has a bit of rust that you can see (there is more hidden) than 500 tops. I got mine for 900 and it ran the hour home. Should have bargined down to 600 too. So a few hundred but not too much more. But I live in cali where there are a ton of them. Guest 240zt
Cali = 90% of the known Z car population it seems
Guest Zcarsmakemyheadhurt
I paid $350.00 for my 75 no motor no tranny rust free no dents no interior just a rolling chassy but I would rather that than a rust bucket.
Guest 77vegasz
I paid $500.00 for my 1978 280Z in southern Cali. It had a locked up motor, the interior was trash, but no rust and no dents at all. Jon

Dead Roman
thats what i likek to call a mercy car. Youd be showing mercy on the owner by taking it off his hands. Im suprized he wont just give it to you.

datsunlover
If that car was a canadian car, it would be "OK" in my opinion.. but it looks like it needs serious help as far as the body goes.. and not running/driving with interior issues too?!? Granted, it is salvagable (mine was worse..) but you are looking at a LOT of work.. It looks like it had a really quick body job about 10 years ago, so you have to get through all that first... then replace metal that's dissapeared, THEN put an engine in/together AND fix up the interior.. If you can get it for around $200, I'd do it.. otherwise, tell the seller "it's not worth a milloin bucks. I'll keep shoping thanks." BillZ260
Could you post some more pics and resize them? Those were pretty small and it was hard to see the DETAIL!
Muskrat
Do you have any kind of photo editing software that you can use to chop those things down to about a quarter thier current size? Even MS paint would work fine.
Guest 240zt
Ok my current delema is i cannot for the life of me find a good car for a fair price any were near me. So if i can steal this car for a really low price i think it will be worth the work in the body. Any ways Im prolly being dumb.
Gollum
i'd recomend just waiting a bit if you can. Patience is a priceless virtue.
Guest Zcarsmakemyheadhurt
I agree with Gullum, I waited months and found a 75 with solid floors and almost no rust. Sure there is no motor, tranny or interior in the car but for $350.00 who can complain. Its not like the car isnt about have all that pulled and replaced anyhow. If you must have a car buy that one only for a dirt ass cheap cost and invest money and time only on parts that are transferable to a worthy car. You can do the motor and what not but dont spend 2 grand on the body when you can buy a clean Z for that much. Good luck.
Guest 240zt
Ha remeber this crap trap. The guy called back and was like 300-400 $ for it. Told him to put some por 15 on those rust spots incase he ever wants to restor it .... a rusted ass 280z that dosent run ... 300-400$ insane i offered 100$ and i thought that was being nice
