We have discussed this at length so now please give you insight. I have a 2JZ-GTE Supra turbo engine, manual trans, and would like to run slicks without worry.

R200 280ZXT CV vs R200V Q45 CV at 450HP?

Setup 1

R200 diff with Q45 gear and LSD $500

Driveshaft already is custom and can remain 0

280ZXT CV's 20

280ZXT axles 20

billet stub axles adaptors ~395

Billet stub axles 690

labor ~25 hours

Setup 2

R200V diff with Q45 gear and LSD $500

Custom Diff cradle 50

Driveshaft must be lengthened 160

Q45 CV's 80

Q45 axles 80

billet stub axles adaptors 420

Billet stub axles 690

labor ~60 hours

Setup 3

Additionally there is a third option similar to setup 1 with Z31 cv's.

I want to know about durability...

If you want to use the 3.133 Q45 ratio, you won't be using a long-nose R200. There is no ratio lower than 3.36 for the long-nose R200.

Are you going clutch or VLSD?

If you are going to go with slicks, I wouldn't consider the 280zx half-shafts. Use the Z31 units as they are stronger.

Well I think I will use the Q45 3.113 or the supra 3.24 gleason then, see the gleason post. Right now I am in Austria and starving for some good, american food. I will be back in jan early so I will get my car together hopefully soon to race in sac.

The 280zx cv axles are very week and they will not hold up.

I wouldn't go that far. I've run the cv jointed 280ZX turbo shafts since '90 as a track car and now a street car and have never broke one yet (in fact, the original set I installed back then is still under the car). Yes, my powerplant is not a stump puller, but it does have a heathy roller SBF and has never had a tire narrower than 12" on the back in it's lifetime. The Q45 appears to be a much stronger unit, but then you must deal with stub axle strength as the last link in the chain that's not upgraded.

blueovalz the 280zx will hold up to track racing but not drag racing. If you stay away from the drag strip then they will last you a long time. As soon as you put on some sticky tires and try to launch they will brake. I know eian that drives a Viper blue 240z with a 280zx turbo motor has broken a few of them also. And he runs a 300rwhp 280zx turbo motor that runs mid 12's in the 1/4.

Cyrus I did not know that the q45 diff comes with a 3.11 gear? That would be a nice gear to have.

Q45 CV's for 80 bucks? is that for each one or for all 4?
