NorthStar powered Toyota MR2

I *did* note in his writeup that the MR-2 was "the Japanese car that helped start the import trend". Hmm, I don't seem to remember any mid-engined Toyotas in the early 70's...

But then again, he's got a tiger by the tail with that project - it'll be a monster. And, if he can get it to the point of being a real daily driver, well, I'll be *seriously* impressed. Certainly they seem to be doing their homework.

Bill's a good guy, I've chatted with him a few times as he visits the same boards I do, http://celicatech.com and http://www.alltrac.net since he has an 88 ST165 like mine, the man is dedicated beyond belief, he decides what he wants to do and just builds the car around it he'll go to any lengths to avoid changing what he wants to do. :bonk:

You can check out his race site here

The import craze has come in many phases. The VW bettle started one. The Z-Car and the 2000GT started another. The big one started in the mid-80s. I was there :) The fight of the MR2, The Golf (rabbit), the Civic CRX. remember the Playboy showroom stock series? Or the mini-truck racing series?

I also run the MR2OC.com board.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I have learned a lot with this swap. More than I ever thought I would. My slills are lacking though. You must understand that I have learned everything I know about this crap on my own. Been learning since my first project car in 1977.

The Toystar is just another project I have gotten way over my head in. Though this one will get completed, but we are on a hold as we are moving to a new house with a few large shops to work in.

All I have to say is that is some incredible work and time that you have put into that MR2. The time and patience alone to make this car even run let alone stuffin that V8 down in there must have been a task in itself.

Kudos to you and I cant wait to see the finished turbo verion, should be a monster for sure.

Two thumbs up!
