Heavy Z
A student came into my class today with a webvideo for us to ponder - he said this unit will make a Del Sol run 9's. Now that I've seen the video, I plan to sit him down and explain the difficulty in making an engine faster than a superbike with only one component added, unless blowing up the motor is of no concern. Also, I'd be willing to bet money that car is a long way from a 9 sec car judging from the time it took to get through the gears(they conveniently show you the boost guage instead of the speedo/tach). And supercharger guys, please give me a good idea of how well a stock block will handle 11+ pounds of boost. The on/off part was slick though...I wonder if they make those for the SBC? DavyZ
9 seconds is true.....in the 1/8 mile! I could not open the link, but Mad Max had a cool one on his car---pure Hollywood I'm sure. Davy
David K
i dont know man. when he did those passes, it sounded kinda sick. Btw he is a moron, he grinded reverse when he started to leave the parking lot. That guy reminds me of salesmen who blows smoke up your rear. I would like to see that car in different resolution and in person also.
inZane 240
When it sounds sick, there is no doubt it's fast! I wonder if that salesmen has a real job...
Racin_Jason
From the time between gearshifts its sounds like maybe a 14 sec car...maybe. Ive seen tons of these econoboxes at the dragstrips and the fast ones (11s or better) 1-2 and 2-3 shifts come ALOT faster then that.
yo2001
9 sec SOHC supercharged 1.5L?... Not. in 1/8mi BTW there is a guy with delsol with 1.8L Vtec DOHC swap here. he traps 3 digits (like 104) on all motor and runs 13's. No NOS, turbo, SC, or stickers. Sleeper. Mike C
If you could adapt an electromagnetic clutch to the blower pulley you could make it turn on and off. If it was injected below the case and you had a bypass throttle it might run pretty well that way. I have a buddy with an 8-71 blown 560 ci BBC in his '74 Ford Bronco ( ) and it is running right now with the blower belt disconnected. It is an older Roots style SC without teflon rotor seals. The large clearances facilitate it's running, but not real well. A newer, small displacement supercharger would most likely be too well sealed up to work, especially a centrifugal style. Nothing's better than blowing the doors off a 9 sec car with your 12 sec car.
