Pop N Wood
And solid rear axles are suppose to be so much safer than a factory IRS... That would be pretty intense to have been the driver.

auxilary
And solid rear axles are suppose to be so much safer than a factor IRS... That would be pretty intense to have been the driver. looked like a narrowed rear end to accomodate the huge tires. Ford 9" rear ends are bulletproof, why do you think so many chevy people run them? and mustang, except for the cobra, never had stock IRS
Pop N Wood
Not doubting the strength of a Ford 9". Looks like the 9" is still in one piece. Unfortunately that piece is no longer attached to the car. Shearing a stub axle would have thrown one tire, but not dumped the whole rear end. May be a superior rear end, but it is all in the execution.
dot
I have to agree with Tim on this one. I don't know what made it lift originally but the four bar link came out complete when she hit the ground.
Mike kZ
I think the drive shaft came off at the tranny, dug into the ground, which pushed the car up, and also pushed the suspention out.
