b__sosick
horrible i'm definetly going to need a daily driver (nothing short of 93 octane is going to feed my baby)
savageskaterkid
y may i ask do you need 93 octane on your car. I run my N/A ZX on 89 and i never hear a ping.
b__sosick
The turbo z I don't have yet will probably never see that low octane gas. well, maybe 89. but...I don't know.
rudypoochris
well what year turbo z are you going to be usuing. Im pretty sure none of them require 93 octane not even the 350z, and if the car is set up to run on 89 octane i think you suffer when jumping to 93 with out timing changes, im not sure but i believe this is true because the 93 octane gas takes longer to burn then the 89. savageskaterkid
unless you plan on turning up the boost a bit there is no reason to run higher octane.
Zhadman
I can't run my WRX on anything lower than the piss 91 here in CA. It pings and retards timing enough... going lower would probably not be a good idea for me. So that's one example of why someone would use 93 octane. b__sosick
apparently you only need that high octane if you're "turning up the boost" xD
Zhadman
apparently you only need that high octane if you're "turning up the boost" xD Perhaps I'm confused. Are you referring to any turbocharged car (stock boost and modified boost levels) or are you only referring to turbocharged cars with higher than stock boost levels? My WRX is bone stock... and will ping and retard on a warm day. Pre-ignition (detonation) is most definately related to engine load AND fuel octane rating. Guest Battle Pope
what do you get for mileage out of your WRX?
Confused
All I know from my friend Sean, is that he hasnt seen boost in a week in his WRX. He drives like a grandma and shifts as 2500 all the time now. I think he said something in the range of 18-22 MPG. I dont remember correctly. b__sosick
that's bad...when a 396 nova gets better gas mileage than your car xD
Z-Gad
well what year turbo z are you going to be usuing. Im pretty sure none of them require 93 octane not even the 350z, 350Z requiires premium fuel.
Confused
350Z requiires premium fuel. Correct.
datsunlover
Well my 280Z 'requires' premium fuel now too. It just refuses to run on regular, or even the mid-grade. Ping pop bang fart....
