slownrusty
Just had my 280ZX Turbo re-appraised by Haggerty Classic Car Insurance..it came in at $14,000 which is pretty good. They accepted it with absolutely no questions whatsoever. Just thought I would share. Yasin

2126
Slownrusty, Regarding Confused....Kids will be kids!!!! I actually remember being one. Wait, I'm still a kid at heart....just a 54 year young kid. At 19 years old Confused seems to be relatively OK....at least he knows the right Z site to come to and thats a start! And at 19, wise cracks are the norm....I guess!!?
Sean 83ZXT
I'm curious as how they came up with $14k? Was it appraised by Haggerty directly? I'm thinking about going with Haggerty as well and am curious as to the the process.

Thats pretty high.
slownrusty
OK guys I had my car appraised by an "approved or profesional" automobile appraiser. He charged me $100 for the report which documents the entire overall condition of the car (for example rust, paint condition, glass condition, door dings, weather stripping etc etc), then he made a note of all the mods done to the car, my car is decently modded (engine, brakes, suspension, interior) so I had him writing for over an hour in my garage. I then sent a copy of this report to Haggerty, that way they can see that everything is legit by a impartial 3rd party and not embelished by the owner... Alternatively call Hagerty and they can fax or email (pdf) a work sheet where you fill in the mods you have done and the overall condition and then they needs lots of pics of the car to back it up. My insurance for the year is cheap $450 and the car HAS to be garaged. I would recommend them, very inexpensive and the way to go if you value your Z. Pretty much all the classic and sports car guys are going this way. Hope that helps. Yasin
wigenOut-S30
Hey Yasin, Do they take note at how many miles a year you drive your Z? when you say it has to be garaged.. Do you mean that it just has to sleep in the garage when you are at home? thanks man and that is GREAT!!. Gabe
slownrusty
Gabe - Yes they want the car to sleep in a garage over night..on other words no chance of some brat kid scratching it in the middle of the night or if the weather gets ugly knowing you can pull it in. I believe mileage is not a biggie with them....I was not too concerned with this as I have driven my ZXT 8,000miles in the last 5years. Guest ON3GO
Yasin.. you had to show proof of the mods? like reciepts or anything..? mike
spdsk8r
I also have my ZX insured with Haggerty. They have insured it for $10,000. Costs me $300/yr. They just required pictures of the car and the mods, as well as a list of mods. You must have a different primary vehicle for daily transportation. Your Haggerty insured car must also be garaged. Milage was not an issue. I had to predict how many miles I would be driving it (<3000 miles/yr in my case).
slownrusty
Mike - Haggerty does not require proof of receipts...but I did show them to the Appraiser who came to my house, that way he know everything is legit and nothing is "hot". Just as well Haggerty does not require the receipts, as I literally have 100s of receipts for my car, I would be photocopying them for hours!! spdsk8r - That is cool that you have Haggerty on your car as well. You have a beautiful car. Yasin
wigenOut-S30
I will be thinking about this as I retire my Z into non daily driver status.. This probably will not happen till early next year. But I am planning on doing the paint and body next year and would like some great covorage. heck thats cheaper then I pay now for insuance. What are the deductables? and does that covor liability as well? I think I might switch over to them when the time is right. Gabe
slownrusty
Gabe - Liability is covered and you can set the deductables like any other insurance company. Yasin
