Mikelly
Just the rotor outter portion is going to cost over $300 each and the bolts are supposed to be replaced each time as well, costing over $58 for bolts, so expect $700 per pair for rotors. That to me is outragious. It might not be a big deal for anyone running a them on the street. However, We get an average of 3 track weekends (6 days total at most) out of a set of the same rotors for the Corvette. Most guys chuck them after 2 weekends to be safe. The Vette and Mustang rotor are the same blank, so I suspect that would be the same with the cobra rotor. Do the Wilwoods last 5 times longer to justify the cost? They probably do, and Wilwood claims they do. However, I'd have to try them first. I may eventually go that route for the track car, but I still think it's pricey! Not as Pricey as rotors for the GT3 Porsche, as those front rotors and pads are $1200+ just for the fronts. Mike

Im runnign these with C4 aluminum calipers and Carbotech Panther XP pads. Hoping it will be a good balance with the arizona zcar wilwood rears, anyway we will see. JMortensen
[img']http://gallery.voodoo-people.com/albums/album478/DSCN0669.sized.jpg[/img] Now THAT is impressive.
Mikelly
YUp, sure is! The corvette parts from the C4 and C5 are VERY light and I wish I had the skills and patience to convert my Z to a full upper and lower front rear assembly to get away from the old skewl Z suspensions! BlackBeaut
well it seems no one has brembos in their Z's. Well that's not strictly speaking true, but my setup is just a daft custom job with mere 305x28mm discs. I haven't even pumped flud in to the calipers yet. Hmmm, I wonder when I'll actually get the bugger on the road again?!! Anyway, back to your big Cobra brakes Cheers, Rob
Trevor
2 questions: Do you have a picture of the bracket used for this? Why does the caliper mount to the front of the strut?
BlackBeaut
2 questions: Do you have a picture of the bracket used for this? Why does the caliper mount to the front of the strut? The caliper ended up on the other side due to it's mounting bolt distance (around 5" IIRC). I couldn't find anyway of mounting it on the rear side of the hub without having a to go with a 2 piece disc with either a really shallow hat or a really deep one' date=' which then caused interference with the caliper and either the back of the wheel or the strut. As it is I was able to use the stock disc (re-drilled mounting holes and increased center bore) and a 260Z hub which all lined up nicely. Caliper and disc are from a Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo, they're also used on the Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0V6 although that is a 5 stud fitting. I have considered swapping the struts over to their opposite sides which would be a cheaty way of getting the caliper on the backside of the hub again, but there's not really much point in doing that. Told you it was daft [center'] Cheers, Rob
Sven
Got 'em! I just picked up a set of Brembo 4 piston calipers to use with Jamie's Cobra brake upgrade. They are from a 2000 Mustang Cobra "R". The calipers bolt right on in place of the Cobra PBR calipers, and use the 13" Cobra rotors. The stopping power should be adequate , and they just look friggin' cool. I may need to tape my eyeballs in before stomping the brakes. Starting out, I'll stick with cheapo replacement rotors ($16 RockAuto) , but would really like a 2-piece similar to the Baer Eradispeed setup, for light weight (okay, okay, I'll admit it: and the bling). -Now all I need are those hubs and adapters... j/k Jamie!
