Guest RaiZed
YES! I DID A SEARCH! and came up with no results for this topic! 1st Q: Can you clean O2 sensors?????? (remove and spray out with carb cleaner or contact cleaner) I've heard its not recommended, but a lot of things in life arent recommended ya know. LOL 2nd Q: Would "high voltage" from a sensor make a lean or rich effect? (I dont know the actual voltage) TIA
JMortensen
1. Don't know, doubt it. 2. Higher the voltage, richer the mixture. Narrowband O2 swings from 0 to 1V. .8V = ~13:1 A/F ratio. They aren't as sensitive or accurate as wideband. For your turbo best bet is to upgrade to a wideband if you plan on tuning with it.
big-phil
I thought about cleaning mine but for $19.99 I got a new one from Auto Zone. I think my old one was original from the 82 turbo motor.
HeatRaveR
For your turbo best bet is to upgrade to a wideband if you plan on tuning with it. On say, on an otherwise stock L28ET, would you be able to just swap a wideband O2 sensor in for the stock narrowband sensor and still have the stock electronics be able to understand the signal that it's receiving? thehelix112
HeatRaveR, No. Wideband o2 sensors require some sophisicated driver electronics to heat them and determine the current required to burn the mixture in them which is then a measure of the richness. Lots of good details here: http://www.wbo2.com, and on the megasquirt site. You should run a standard O2 sensor and put another bung close to it for the wideband if you want to do any tuning. Cruez
I kinda lucked out the other day and got a new 4 wire (heated) bosch sensor for $1.25. It will make tuning the Haltech much easier...
