kcelectronics
What pressure are you running now? And what do you hope to achieve wit increased pressure? There is no real benefit with higher pressure. (there may be a slightly higher flow but not that much) The way that the oil film protects bearings has very little to do with pressure (as long as it is reasonable) and more to do with the oil! and high flow pumps will only work with an engine with loose clearences to help dissapate heat. Chuckie:twisted: when cold 65-80 psi when warm, 36-39 psi at 3k rpms idle when warm 11 psi lookin to raise the psi a tad bit, nothing extreme
kcelectronics
HI Again, Just insert a flat washer the same size as the O/D of the pressure spring between the spring and the regulator cap nut it that Easy. But If this doesn't raise the pressure then the pump has run out of flow with hot oil? Chuckie:twisted:

Chuckie:twisted:[/quote'] Yes, I find that the standard M6 flat washer fits nicely! 10-15psi at idle is more than enough at hot idle. JMortensen
The crappy stock oil pressure sender is a likely culprit for low oil pressure problems as well. A test with a mechanical gauge might be in order, it's reassuring to know that the pressure that the gauge is showing has some relationship to reality. JMortensen
I'm a believer in the mechanical oil pressure gauge, but I'm sure your aftermarket electric gauge is still a lot better than the stock unit.
Drax240z
I'm with you Jon, mechanical oil pressure gauge is the only answer!
dapiper
A weak oil pump will also cause low oil press, especially if subjected to debris or coolant from blown head gasket or cracked head. My L28 N42 produces 50 psig at 3k RPM with Amsoil 10W40 full synthetic and oil cooler.
