cobraz240z
Ok if i put the maxima small chamber head on a stock 1970 240z motor what compression will i get? Is it worth it.
Mack
I get 10:1 for a stock L24 with a regular head gasket and 10.25:1 with a felpro. The MN47 has a 39CC combutsion chamber., for future reference. you would have to notch the cylinder walls because the MN47 has the larger exhaust valves. AK-Z
Isn't that the LD28? Would it even work since It doesn't have sparkplugs (diessel)?

Lurch2461
Yeah, L24E, comes with small con rod journals and 8mm con rod bolts. When was the US maxima a variant L24E? Cause in Oz we had the L24E in our Skyline and after 83 it had 9mm rod bolts and same big end as S130 280ZXT. Cheers, Dennis
Mack
the US got a datsun 810 from 1977 to 1980 with the L24E, then they changed body styles and went with a maxima some said 810 and some said 910 as well, from 1981 to 1984. 85+ the maxi went FWD with a VG30 engine. zcarnut
When was the US maxima a variant L24E? Cause in Oz we had the L24E in our Skyline and after 83 it had 9mm rod bolts and same big end as S130 280ZXT... There were two variants of the L24E Nissan engine used in the USA. The first L24E engine appeared in the 1977 810. Same crankshaft as the L24 240Z engine, a 25lb flywheel, 9mm rod bolts, a N47 head similar to the one found on the later 280Z except for the smaller exhaust valve and a fuel injection system almost identical to the L28 engine. This version was used until 1981 when the 810 was redesigned and became the Maxima (service code was “910"). The L24E engine in the Maxima was modified as well: the N47 head was changed to a quelch combustion chamber, the flywheel was lightened to 17.5lbs and the rods and crank were changed to accommodate a thinner connecting rod journal and the rods used the 8mm bolts. This L24E was used through 1984.
