240Z_Master
This is my other problem...(pix) Maybe the RB26 mechanical speed sensor out of the R32 can help me with this problem. Good thing about the electronic one is I don't have to worry about sticking a cable up in there.
Ed260Z
The sensor head on mine was only about 3-4mm. Those look way to deep to fit. You could cut off the stock mounting tabs and weld them back further down in the tunnel.

240Z_Master
So I forgot my camera while I was at the shop again... and pulled out the mechanical speed sensor from the GTR (R32). The unit was exactly the same but the red gear on the GTR was shorter (and the teeth were pointed in the opposite direction! like ///) while the GTS red gear was longer and pointed like . My other concern now that I think about it, is the damn ECU, doesn't it require an electronic signal from the speed sensor (for the speed governor and crap). So it looks like I will end up ditching my mechanical speedo for an electronic one coming up very very soon!
RB26powered74zcar
240z master; I think I may have found a mech speedo drive in a pile of parts I saved when I took an old AWD rb26 box apart for the bellhousing. I saved all the goodies and just ran across them. I'm in Mobile Ala. right now, so when I get back home on Sun., I'll take a pic and see if you can use any of it.... QUESTION If the RB25DET is an electronic speedo sensor, doesn't that feed a signal to the ECU (For speed gov' and cruise control)? Like if I switched over to a cable style (RB26DETT), wouldnt that be bad since the ECU wouldn't be able to read a signal?

Ed260Z
It's alright, I ordered the Z32 sensor and it should be coming soon! Let us know if it fits right.
240Z_Master
Let us know if it fits right. Of course, but I don't tink you have to worry as much since you're running a 26 which runs off of a cable. Just make sure that you use the speedo pinion that came with your RB25DET trans onto your RB26 speed sensor.
AK-Z
I just skimmed over the thread and I don't kno wif this has been talked about but this might be of some use. I found a site that sells universal adjustable speedo sender. Don't know if it will work but worth looking into. I believe they have ones for fords also, heres the link http://www.prostreetonline.com/buy/programmable_electric_speedo_senders/5291/

All the pics that I've seen of the R33 & R34 tranny have an Elec Speedo Sensor. But I'll keep my fingers crossed.
