280zwitha383
Why a 1996 corvette grumpy? Something special about those that I don't know about?
grumpyvette
yeah, whats special about a 1996 corvette.......... ITS one of the best corvettes I PERSONALLY OWN,(1985,1992,1996) and I love the body style yeah, your correct you can put those engines in any application that much power can effectively be used in, not just the vettes but for many corvettes the swap to a bbc engine is a bolt in swap or only minor mods are required to get them to fit

Michael
While we’re on the subject of deep pockets…. For some one with the resources, the engineering know-how and the gumption to make such an ambitious purchase, wouldn’t it be wonderful to take the additional leap to build a complete car from scratch – to build something truly light-weight and modular, with a chassis designed around the drivetrain, and thus avoid the compromises inherent in any hybrid? If I had the experience and the time, I’d begin quite literally with a clean sheet of paper. Begin with the conceptual design; wheelbase, suspension architecture, rough layout of main components. In aircraft design, once a notional mission is defined, we conduct performance trades, to determine minimal thresholds of things such as thrust to weight ratio, wing loading, fuel fraction, and so forth. Well, apply similar thinking to cars. Then proceed to chassis design and external lines. Some day I’d like to build a car with size and weight comparable to the Anglia or Fiat Topolino, but with better aerodynamics and better chassis design, stuffed with an all-aluminum ~600 cubic inch BBC, with a chromoly frame and fiberglass lift-off body panels. But until then – there’s the Z.
silicone boy
It's still cheaper than a LS7 crate motor. I've never considered a big block Vette. Don't know why because it should be relatively easy.
LS1 240Z
a 408 LSx motor with ported heads and a turbo would rule that motor hardcore just ask Parrish;) fyi the C4 would only be good for drag racing, id stuff a worked over LSx motor into a C5 and actualy be able to handle, granted i wouldnt do as good at the strip, but id brake, turn, and turn better track times as well as not being so far behind at the the drag strip
silicone boy
I thought the C4 was an excellent handler?
Mikelly
Actually the C4 is quite capable. Everything from 1988 forward in a corvette is very worthwhile to own as a track day/weekend/ fun car that handles well, brakes well and makes decent power for cheap.
