Top favs are Elfen Lied Naruto Gunslinger Girls Rorouni Kenshin Bleach Inu Yasha Neon Genisis Evangelion I know I like some cheesy stuff but there is some bad as* stuff there too. mario_82_ZXT Posted May 30, 2006 Share Posted May 30, 2006 Don't know Elfen Lied. The english version of Naruto ruined it for me... I used to read the manga. Don't know Gunslinger Girls... Rorouni Kenshin is ok but I love the movies! Some of them are so much like the old Japanese samurai movies which I love so much (Seven Samurai, the Zatoichi serious, and others) Never got into Bleach, didn't know they made it into an anime. I think Inuyasha isreally lame. It's too annoying/repetetive. My sis loves it though... NGE is one of my facorite series of all time... even though I haven't seen a lot of the middle episodes.... What I really like: FLCL/Fooly Cooley/Furi Kuri. God that series is so sweet! Only 6 eps though.... Hellsing... even though it doesn't follow the manga. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is sweet!!! Huge Gundam fan, mostly Gundam Wing and 08th MS team. I like some of the weirder stuff like Kikaider and some others. Anime movies are sweet! Metropolis, Akira, and all of the Miyazaki films. Real life movies, all the Zatoichi movies (new and old) I like, and I think Versus is one of the coolest action movies ever.... That show was so dope...I used to be big into Ranma 1/2, and my screen name comes from Robotech in case nobody caught that. I used to have my z painted like roy fokker's veritech from the series, and may yet again once i get my body work sorted out...I have to agree that Neon Genisis Evangelion is one of the best of all time, and Akira still stands up after all this time. I saw an episoide of Naruto on Adult Swim and it totatly sucked. I've been meaning to watch the Stand Alone Complex. Trigun is good too. Helsing should have been 26 eps. GTO, Trigun, Ghost in the Shell, Witch Hunter Robin, Blood+, the new Hellsing series(follows the manga/comic), FLCL is a fun bizzare lsd trip!, I have Irresponsible Captain Tylor, good comedy. Also liked a series called Last Exile and Tenjou Tenge. Lots of light hearted humor. If you know where to look on the net you can get fansubs of the new stuff done really well, years before you might seem them in stores. Usually the stuff that makes it to the us with english dubbs are horrible. Nothing like having a lil japanese chracter voiced by a woman with a hudge southern accent. Also the lines are completely changed to localize or dumb down the content. I wont mention Initial D Avoid buying anime if you can, its more expensive then crack. Guest iskone Posted June 1, 2006 Share Posted June 1, 2006 Fnasubs Rock!! Last Exile is ok. I don't have all of Blood+ yet so I haven't watched any I'm still missing the last 2. I have seen the movie though I thought it rocked. Witch Hunter Robin, I'll have to check it out ANN gives an A. There are also more adult themed Anime too. Not X rated just mature. I just finished Haibane Rema it is a good example of mature anime. I also feel Gunslinger Girls is a more mature anime, it is not for childern/teens ad it title implies. On not the for children topic never let any of your children or younger siblings see Elfen Lied. It's a very dark, violent, and distrubing series. Never been to a con, I'm not that big a fan (I've seen only about 20-30 series) really rather go to a car show. You know what I can't find anywhere is any fansubs of Wangan Midnight. Right now I'm on 60ish but got a little pissed at the show for not showing enough fighting. BTW don't watch the last 30 eps of Rorouni Kenshin. Just the cheesy engrish voice overs, misuse of words and overall corny plots - not to mention the freakshows that get off the Japanimae porn (Don't lie, you know who you are) - It ruined Kill Bill for me, as well as Adult Swim. There needs to be a channel devoted just to this type of cartoon - I would tune in for Wangan Midnight (although I've never seen an episode but features S30s and such so it has to be cool) and leave the rest of the sword yielding, overly muscular characters(ironically enough created by some 100lb ying yong) superheros with spikey haircuts fighting to some cheesy dubbed song to yall.
