will cutting on the strut tower be a bad idea?

Hey Mike, what if you mount the turbo around where the A/C compressor is supposed to go? would that work at all? Maybe you could totally reroute the wastegate tube to come up over the turbo flange instead of long as all hell underneath the runners like it is in that picture, that would free up some space towards the front of the engine.

i was thinking i could do that, downpipe would be just a straight shot sorta then....

but then again i wanted to try and make this a top mount setup, i just love seeing turbos!!

Reclocking the compressor housing won't give enough clearance? Could you cut out the area out on the strut tower for clearance and then replace the steel but with a depression in it enough to clear the housing?

maybe you could weld up some gussets like olie showed on the inside of the fender, If you have coil overs which i think you do on that car, then you should have plenty of room.

So Mike you bought that header? I called that guy and spoke with him at length about it and decided that I wanted to make the parts fit the car, not the car fit the parts.

im gonna be doing alot of tig work to it and it will be a nice peice once its done.

 

ill be doing the whole car over anyways so this wont be that hard to fix.

i tell you this Ian is a super nice guy and i hope i can help him out in the future with that pinks engine he won.

 

i think the manifold will work real nice with not that much work at all.

im gonna have so much fun cutting and welding this sucker into a badass header! the tial wastegate looks so nice next to it, and i already figured out how ill relocate the turbo and wastegate pipe..

Good to see it made it there like I shipped it. Can't wait to see what it looks like in the engine bay once it's done. It's going to look amazing top mounted, don't see any L28's with that.

I just couldn't cut a piece like that, I don't have the confidence.
