Metallicar
The black looks great! I prefer satin or semi gloss for this. Flat shows every smudge and spots. The satin is easy to wipe off.
SSflyer
How about a semi-gloss black? I think the flat draws attention away from the paint...
v8wannabe2
Here's a better pic of the car. Thanks for the feedback.
phantaz
I think a semi-gloss black on the bumpers would be great.. the flat seems to distract from the rest of the car.. looks great though.. awesome work.
Jackhammer
The effort and craftsmanship is right up there! IMO though... I would lose the front spoiler. It's shape competes with the bumper. Something with smoother more complimenting lines. Again my opinion... I would paint the bumpers the same as the body. Blending them in versus drawing attention to with another color. Below is a front spoiler from MSA that is close to what I am talking about. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/7AD2/50-1412
Challenger
Hi I was wondering how you filled the seam between the headlight bucket and the fender it looks great. Cars coming along nice!! 78 280z 2+2 never ending project
v8wannabe2
I migged the two together while lined up on the car. I got lucky and didn't warp the sheet metal too bad. After some grinding I finished up with some metalic body fill. Here's pic of it in the rough.

That airdam looks awesome with no bumper. *speaks from experience* lol
LS1 240Z
*******, you are doing exactly what i wanted to do lol. turning all the chrome into matte black. i plan on powdercoating all chrome pieces/hood/rear lid matte black also. i like the smoothed cowl, the rear bumper.. dont like so much, i like the curve around look more, but they look good, if i didnt know id say they are factory. just personal opp. here
v8wannabe2
A$$hole!!!, I'm extremely offended!....just send me that driveline you have complete with the dif and cool billet bar and I'll likely forgive ya.
240hoke
Looks really nice! I like what you did with the bumpers! +1 for making a 280z look great, especially black since it shows everything.
DavyZ
My vote is for the flat black. I think it looks great on the bumpers and the vents. I'd love to see the "package" in person as I believe it would be even better in person; trying to absorb the whole effect on separate photos is a bit difficult, but I'll use my imagination....I like it! mason4300
If the vote for what to paint your bumper is still open, I definately would go with a semi-gloss or gloss black. Flat makes it look like plastic, and as others said, detracts from the car. If it matched the car paint, it would be excellent
rigez
Have you thought of trying that black chrome? The looks vary in different lighting. Sometimes it has that cool anodized look sorta like black onyx or looks like like chrome in other lighting.
bradz240
The car looks great. But the bumpers in flat detract. IMO. Brad
