CruxGNZ
Don't know if this particular Ford was in the giant taillight thread, but it's just something that caught my eye. What vehicle is this? I can't make out what model it is.
280Zone
Looks like a Mercury Capri from the 70's. My guess is that car is a Ford from Australia
JMortensen
We had Capris here. There used to be a really fast one at the autox I used to frequent. Brown Capri that hauls ass. Talk about a sleeper...
DavyZ
They make a good swap candidate for a Ford 302. I have always liked them; too bad they are nearly extinct. I just never see them around anymore. Davy
alsil
I knew a few people who used to have those. One guy squeezed a 351 in it. fast car, but not easy to work on. Very little room to fit a V8, in fact you have to *massage* the trans tunnel to make a C4 fit....kinda like an early Maverick. The front ends in those are a bit whimpy too. Nice looking car, though. Much better than the Pinto / Maverick / Mustang II.
Tim240z
Yeah...my Dad used to race them in the 70s. The Capri Pirhana was a 302ci factory tuner....
veritech-z
Yeah, that's definitely a FORD Capri though, not a Mercury Capri. I'm pretty sure most of them had the early ranger 2.8 engine in them. We had a nice imported black one here around town, it's actually the only one I've seen in person. Imported because they were far more popular (and continue to be, evidently) in Europe. Not an issue of Retro Cars goes by that doesn't have at least one in the background somewhere at some rally or other. They turn up for sale every once in awhile if you look hard enough. Tim240z
See post #8 for a grainy picture of a Capri Pirhana: http://www.gt40s.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12829&highlight=capri+pirhana http://www.capriv8.de/perana-engl.html

randy 77zt
capri's were around in the 70's.first engine was a 2000 ohc-later 2.3 or 2.8v6.the interiors kind of fell apart in these cars.
olie05
the original pic looks like one of a deformed 240z yet I still like it.
veritech-z
Looks more like a deformed maverick, crossed with a gen 1 rwd ford escort, but it think they are really sweet cars. The six cylnder cars sound super euro...
slownrusty
The Capri was a very respected car in England and Europe and gave the BMW CSL some good run for their money at the Nurbugring and LeMans. There were three generations the last ones were made in the mid-80s. The smallest engines were a 1600 pushrod. The most luxurious ones had a the Ford Cologne 2.8L V6 called the 2.8i. There was also a 3.0L in the early generations as well. Tickford did a very nicely hopped-up one but was $$$. Aston Martin used to own Tickford. z_cars_rule
there are about 3 of these in my town. 2 with 302s, one with a 3L v6. There is one that takes out the BigBlock NA every year at the biggest car show in Aus, with well over 1000hp i think, from a 500ci?? that car was amazing, first time i was it was when it drove past smoking its slicks in 3rd just keeping with the traffic of summernats.
