jbk240z
I like the good ole' Datsun S30 Z!
boodlefoof
LS powered F-bodies fall into the criteria except that they're a little over your weight preference.
zero
I'd go for a 2000 sc300 or 400 with a manual. Basically a more comfortable (albiet somewhat heavier) supra. Most of the supra tuning stuff will fit, its a toyota so it will be reliable forever. In my opinion they are one of the better looking cars ever built. Gollum
Haha, oh was that out loud? The 5 speed manual SC400s are quite rare. Rare enough that most people with manuals on the toyota UZ motors adapt to the W58 supra tranny. But they are nice cars, and decently priced too. rudypoochris
The problem with the s2000 is that it falls flat on its face for reliable easy power improvements... It is pretty light for a modern car though.

Rare enough that most people with manuals on the toyota UZ motors adapt to the W58 supra tranny. Really really really rare. A manual SC300 is awfully rare too. For some reason, people didn't buy manual Lexuses
rudypoochris
Pretty sure SC400 manuals are acctually non existant unelss modified in. SC300 5-speeds were available from 90-97. Imho they seem all overpriced auto or manual versions...
Gollum
I know for fact they exist in manual in australia, but I've not done the research to show that they were ever brought to the USA with a manual option.
cyrus
Open your mind a little and any of these cars will be great Z3 G35 350Z S2000 C5 Vette For the money I would prob by the C5 or 350Z just because the engines are superior, (peppy through out the powerband.) Datsun350Z
The z3 gives me the miata feeling I got... You know, the "nice car, mom know you're driving it?" look. The 350Z/G35 are cool cars, but Heavy, heavy, heavy. My daily right now is a 1990 300zx. I hate how fat it feels. And i'm not old enough to drive a vette, and have people believe it's mine. As was mentioned before I need a swapped s2000... Nothing too crazy, about 300whp should be good. I saw this pic a while back... It should be just what I need. Actually, this is more like it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WirkGXYdOus Too bad total price would be well over $35k
ZDreamin72
Not too sure on price, but how about a RSX Type S...or is it Type R? i dont know, jsut get the K20 engine; or even better get a Honda Civic(EGchassis) and swap in a K20, mad revving horsepower, with a supoer light chassis, and it totally legal, if you keep the motor stock for inspection. someone had posted something on the subject not too long ago i believe about the california BAR or somethin of the sort...check it out. my friend has an evo viii, i drive it from time to time, love it, great horsepower, and with simple stage one mods it had jsut over 400 horsepower, great handling, super fun to drive, he got it with cash back on a galant trade...personally id go with the wrx sti, same setup, more stock horsepower, six gears, little heavier, but opposed motor sounds great. you pick
MOTORHEAD427
I agree with Boodlefoot. I recommend a LS1 Z-28 or SS Camaro. I`ve had my Z-28 since `98 as a daily driver.Never had any kind of trouble whatsoever except for speeding tickets. Reliable, fuel efficient, it has great handling, very quick and responds well to improvements. Also you can buy a very decent one for about $12K and spend the rest of your money on improvements -if you feel you need to improve it-. C5 is also a great choice but I wouldn`t buy a C5 for under $20K...There might be something wrong with it. Decent C5`s starts from about $25K. Camaro`s advantage compared to C5 is, it costs less so you can use the money you save on improvements to get the Corvette performance and also since it has a back seat, you`ll save on insurance. 4 seaters cost less than 2 seaters. Gollum
There's always the WS6 too. They can be had for a very reasonable price and there's some deadly quick ones out there.
