AFM adjustment screw

Hey there, does anyone know the proper setting for the adjustment screw on the AFM for a 76 280?

There should be a procedure in the "tech tips" page I linked you to in your "surging" thread.. it isnt an adjustment screw, per se, but it is adjustable to a degree. (no pun intended) its not the simplest procedure, more of a calibration than a basic adjustment, but it isnt difficult.

If you haven't messed with it, don't. It should be fully opened around peak torque. Opening it sooner will just have it run rich up to peak torque but the same afr after. Opening it later will make it run lean up to peak torque but the same after. Do you have a wide band or were you going to guess?

Are you refering to the adjustment screw on the outside of the AFM in the lower right? That would be the air bypass screw and it is adjustable. However it's similar in respect to a air screw on a carb. No two vehicles are going to be exactly the same. Tightening it richens, loosening it leans. It's really only useful at idle. Once you crack the throttle the air flowing through the flap is sufficient.
