Turbo Meister
New turbos have been installed and the Z will be at the MSA Car Show this Sunday. While I was at it I also increased the displacement of my engine. While Dr Hunt suggested ,last year, that I stroke the engine, I told him that there would be "no stroking". However, I recently did a lot of boring and honing to my old Motown small block Chevy and now it is a 406 cubic inch engine. Not a whole lot bigger than the 388 but every little bit helps. It runs well, but no time for racing right now. Hanns

Turbo Meister
I want. Are those custom filters? Thanks for the comments. These are my "Race Filters" and I made them out of a $5 kitchen strainer. Keeps the big chunks out.
280zwitha383
Haha, as long as you keep the pebbles and humingbirds out it will be fine. When you say race filters does that mean you're going to eventually put something else on there or is that how you're going to run?

K & N makes a foam strip that I can cut to size and then wind around both mesh filters as many times as there is room. It secures with velcro strips and should be sufficient as a fine particle catcher on the street. Or I can get a narrow round filter that is squeezed between both turbos like I was using with my Rajay turbos.
Z-Gad
Excellent Hanns!! I am very happy you gave been able to get the car back up and running. I expect to see some new numbers in the near future as well
COZY Z COLE
Hanns, I knew there was a good reason that you've been quite for awhile.... Great job... BTW the Doc made it here this evening and my niece Katie, Doc, and me went out for eats and BS and had a good time. We'll load the 72 240Z ( and maybe the 74 260Z) on the trailer along with all the OEM parts for the next V-8 Turbo build project for the trip back to NM on Sat.. jbk240z
The turbos look GREAT! I'll bet the Z requires a change of undies when you take a "ride". I am happy for you that it's on the road. Take care man, Jason

deja
Now that's totally awesome. Give us some time when you get the chance. Any idea on what the RWHP will be compared to the 388?

DavyZ
Hanns, I'm assuming you have driven the car with the larger displacement and the new turbos---what is the seat-of-the-pants-feel?? does the car feel significantly different or about the same? I'm very curious. That said, I'm sure the drag strip will show a significant difference in the 1/4 mile times. As a base reference, what were you turning in the 1/4 before? m1noel
Hanns, Man that thing is clean. I'd say I would eat off of it but I might leave a crumb. I have never seen it before and would like to see the rest of it. I wish the MSA show wasn't so far away. Mike

Davy I can sum up the new ride as "SCARY" when it boosts up. I punched it a few times on a deserted road, while in second gear, and heard myself screaming like a "girly-man". I don't know how or even if it will launch cleanly while racing, but the sheer acceleration under boost seems greater than before. But then I haven't driven it for a while and probably forgot how it ran before. So maybe it's all in my mind that it's faster now. Last year I ran 9.53 at 145 mph. Bschiltz, My friend is reinstalling the Rajays on his 2200 lbs Vega for drag racing. Thanks for the comments everyone. Hanns

Hanns I'm guessing 8.98 in the quarter this time around.....if it hooks. That's just blistering fast. If you don't hit high 8's at the strip, I think it'll only be a matter of time. Exciting! Guest 280ZForce
Hanns, the new turbo setup looks even better than previously and I'm sure the reworking of displacement has helped a bit too! See you at the MSA show...mine will be the red s30 coming in on a flat bed tow truck lol...hehe

BobbyZ
Hey Turbo Meister, I met you at the end of the day on Sunday. I have to say that your car was one of the highlights of the show for me. Hearing that engine was amazing, and thanks for taking the time to talk to me about that beautiful machine. I also took a glance at your videos (i actually downloaded all of them to show to friends... lol). Do you have any of you running the quarter? I want to see more of this monster. Congrats on having such a beautiful piece of work!! I hope to see you there next year.
