SHANE
ok, i had a hell of a squat problem when launching, i was on stock 240 struts and 280zx springs. i had to cut the hell out of my quarters to stop from tearing up the drag radials(275/50/15) so i installed non-adjustable tokico's and suspension technic(sp?) springs with a 1" drop. now the damn tires rub when i take a corner . will a sway bar cure this? the car does not have one (rear) and as far as i know the 240's did not come with one. if it will help then is there a kit? thanks, shane
260DET
The rear tyres or the fronts rub? Doubt that a sway bar will fix the problem anyway. Better off adding extra clearance to the body where the rubbing occurs, your tyres are substantially oversize.
SHANE
all the problems are with the rear.
Mike C
My Suspension Techniques bar comes with new risers for the back of the control arms. This puts the bar BEHIND the differential. Mine were a matched set from Summit Racing. The 73 240 DOES have the factory mounts to use the 260/280 rear bar but if your 72 is like mine, it does not. 275 50's are HUGE... Breeze77z
eh, the 345/25 20s i saw at work are HUGE, not saying they'd fit, but they're big. i work at UPS in toledo (we get all of tire rack's tires going to NE coast) btw...STOP BUYING TIRES NEW ENGLAND !!! i mean jeez, 100-500+ a night, every night, since Oct. last year is a bit much. ever lift a mounted tire over your head to load all the way to the top of a semi-trailer? repeatedly? sorry, just got off work...but yea, i see some interesting tires. Dave
DAW do you happen to have the NISMO part number for the sway bar mounting kit? or pictures of what you get with the kit and how its installed?
Guest Anonymous
DAW. you are a fountain of good information. Nezzie 76 had a ujoint hitting the rear sway bar on de-acceleration on his 280 V8 Z . The connecting rod bolts for the sway bar were too long on the slightly lowered Z causing one rod bolt to be bent. Regrettably, the sway bar was removed. I agree with your conclusion a sway bar helps to get around a corner fast even with the indepedant rear and behind the diff is a more logical place for the sway bar. Just one more modification to an endless number that I will do to my unfinished project
Mike C
Hey DAW, I may have another set of the Suspension Techniques risers. My parts 240 (73) has a factory 280 rear bar, BUT at some point in time it had the ST setup and the risers are still there. If you aren't in a hurry (I've gotta do a roof on my house ASAP) and might be interested, let me know.
