olie05
Ok this thread is getting off topic. I keep looking back at it waiting for an update, only to see more questions about the GSXR throttle bodies. Read these websites and become better informed on the motorcycle throttle bodies. http://msefi.com/viewtopic.php?t=6627 http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=127069 http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/226806

proxlamus©
I have never in my life had more of a problem then with this stupid screws... I have 2 - 2006 units and brand new hardware (obviously) and I have stripped so many of these damn screws. I noticed there is a blue thread locker on them.. and OMG. I have a better chance loosening a rusted 30 year old screw then I do with these things.
jeffer949
you talking about the phillips screws on the carbs??? if there is any sort of paint on the head of the screw make sure you take a little dental pick and get all of the paint out of it before you try to take it apart. then just go at it with a good new screwdriver that still has sharp edges. you really shouldnt be stripping them off though... olie05
I'm pretty sure the spacing on your throttle bodies is 80mm. Spacing on the mikuni manifold (for DCOE's, PHH, etc) is 90mm. And i'm also pretty sure you throttle bodies are spigot mount. You would have to weld a flange to the TB to get them to "bolt on". I did see one guy weld the throttles onto his manfiold... http://www.preludepower.com/forums/showpost.php?p=932168&postcount=
texis30O
I am thinking of getting rid of mt Turbo Tom kit and making my own kit...then I stumble apon this thread.....I have been thinking about making a intake plenium in my head for some time now....this thread is not helping my pocket book. I have a IS 300 as well as the Z and there is a guy that has done the ITB conversion with the GSX-R 1000 TB's and the car is insanely powerful.........I have had this idea in the back of my head for the Z......... md614
yeh those damn phillips screws on the carbs! I have a NEW set of precision phillips screw drivers.. and I cant get em loose I work on motorcycles, so I know what you are going through. Get a small pair of channel loc pliers and loc on the head of the screw. Comes off every time. If not apply heat. Hope that helps.
proxlamus©
I drilled through most of the screws.. heated up some of them.. and tried a new set of screwdrivers at Home Depot (while i worked .. haha) and got em loose great success! proxlamus©
The cutting began today.. muahaha. Just need to weld on the runners to the flange.. and weld up some mounting tabs for a secure unit. Then the pressure plenum project begins
proxlamus©
Sorry its a cell phone pic.. but progress! Yes its a bit off.. but this was mock up stage. I have Cyln. 1-2 5-6 all welded up now! =)
olie05
Yes! I love this progress. How long are your runners? Have you considered clearance to the strut tower and/or brake shield? I measured 12.5" from the head to the first obstacle (allowing for a little bit of velocity stack) on my car. Also, are you just mocking and tacking? I was planning on making a jig for my setup, but I'm not going to be welding it myself. Looks great so far! edit: n/m i just realized what the tape was there for!
