TeeJayHoward
'76 280Z. Needs both floorpans, battery tray, and a quarter-sized hole in the rear quarter replaced. ...Oh, and a new roof. How much should I budget towards the repair of this? I could care less about bondo and paint, I just want the rust gone.
JMortensen
You're looking at a pretty big repair bill if you're paying someone else to do the work. It'll be big enough to justify a trip to NM or AZ to buy a relatively rust free car and start with that instead. Check bjhines very recent thread on fixing a dented roof, along with some of the threads in the past about replacing floorpans. Both are time consuming jobs, and at $75/hr, it gets pretty incredibly expensive in short order.
johnc
$5,000.
datsun40146
C'mon John don't you think you can do it for a bit les 5000. Tell you what you give me 4000 cash, buy the parts, metal, spare car, ect and I'll fly out and fix it. You would also have to give me a place to say and food for 14 days. I think thats a good deal? no?
johnc
Both floor pans, battery tray, and most likely both rocker panels. Call around and ask. $5,000 is a very typical price for that work. And 8 hours times 14 days works out to 112 hours of work. With your $4,000 labor charge you're billing $35.71 per hour which is half the typical shop rate for this kind of work. TeeJayHoward
Well that's not a happy number while I'm sizing up prices here, what's it cost to sandblast a shell?
Sparks280zt
500 to 1500 for a good job
datsun40146
Thats a good quote I traded a new set of 33 12 50s ATs with chrome wheels for a complete soda blasting job on my S30. I think I got a great deal. Considering I got the tires for 300 and the wheels for 375.
